Question about Gateway Computers & Internet

My computer(laptop) has a hard drive problem. My warrenty expires 8/16/08. I purchased at Best Buy on 8/16/07. They indicated I need my credit card number. It will take 7-10 days which will be past the expiration date. What can I do to protect myself ?

If you really do have a hard drive problem, then take the ahrd drive out, and see who makes it. It should have something like a 3 year warrenty depending on manufacturer.

Call the company, and get it replaced directly from them. Leave bestbuy out of the equation.

Hi,
Best thing to do is download the contents of the hard drive to a external hard drive or Memory stick. If the computer is more then 5 years old then the hard drive will be old type, and will not go into the newer PC.

USB Flash drive broken


Have to be taken to either your local PC repair shop or sent back to the manufacturer. I would send it back to the manufacturer because they are more familiar with your system. There is nothing you can do to fix it has to be fixed on motherboard.

Windows has encountered a hard disk drive problem

Power cord is defective. I bought the laptops on 12/23/07 at best buy and they said i would have to go directly to you for a replacement power supply


hi, it seems you are under the warrenty coverage. so it is better to go to the dealer for the replacement.

I purchased norton 360 version 2.0 order no 1849616067 iwish to use it on my laptop since 3 month free useage expires in 2 days could you please instruct me how to do this as i believe i can use this...

Norton 360 2.0 may be installed on three computers at one time. If you have the product on a CD, you can install it on other two computers using the same CD and the same Product Key. Go to the section "I have a CD version".
If you have purchased the download version of Norton 360 2.0, you need to download and install Norton 360 2.0 on the other two computers, using the same purchase order details. Go to the section "I have a download version".

1. Go to the Symantec Store Order Status Web page on your second or third computer where you want to install Norton 360 2.0.

2. Type your order number and password to log on, and click Find your Order. You will see your order information.
If you do not know your order number and password, you can look up your order using your emailaddress and last 5 digits of your credit card.

On your Order Summary, click Start Download.

My screen on my labtop broke and its app white. my dog dropped it and i do not no if anything is wrong with the rest of it is there any way i can find out before i pay to fix the screen? it is my hp labtop


Connect an external monitor to the VGA port, look to see if there is a key to toggle between internal lcd and external monitor, on my lap top it is <FN><F5>, on my Dell it is <FN><F8>

if the display is normal then the problem could be the ribbon cable connector, the inverter, or the LCD. If the external display is bad also the the problem is the video card or if embedded, the mother board is bad.

It appears that our laptop described below, that we bought in Nov. 07 may have to have a new Pixel b/c there isn't a screen when it's turned on. We didn't buy insurance but hopefully it's under some type...

Looks like its either faulty RAM or Display. In any case, I wouldn't advise you to open the laptop. Best bet is to take it back to the point of purchase. Since you only bought it in Nov.07, it should still be under warranty.
