Linksys WPC54G Wireless-G... Problem:

The problem with my network card is that nothing shows up...Now I understand computers pretty well and I have tried most of what you asked me to try.
Here is the deal when I click start and go to "connect to" all that shows up is "Show all connections" My wireless network is GONE. I don't know how, but it's gone. I cannot edit any settings because it is non-existent. I have tried countless times to uninstall and install it(yes, I have done it correctly).
If you know of anything else I could try, let me know, but everything you mentioned does not apply to me.
-My Virus software and firewall has nothing to do with why my network card is not working.
-Also, mozilla firefox would not work any better than the internet browsers that I am currently using. I am not having problems with my internet browser. Let me remind you, I am having problems with my wireless network card.

-I appreciate your input on this matter, and if you have any other information that may be of use to me please let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for trying in the first place though.

I have a Desktop...not a Laptop. Thanks again for the input...but there is nothing wrong with my windows program. My device is loaded and connected properly. I have already tried different slots and it does the same thing.

When I boot up my computer, it tries to install a Token Ring Network Controller...but cannot find the correct driver for installation. Even when I give it the location for the correct driver it says that the driver does not contain the proper information for the device.

I have called Linksys numerous times and have stumped all of the technical support guys I have spoken with, so good luck. If you think of anything else, let me know. I'll give as much information about it as I possibly can.

Thanks for feedback.

Okay let's go back to the beginning, I need you to unplug the device first. Restart the computer. Plug the wireless card into another slot. See if the computer installs the device. Sounds like the device is not loaded in correctly.

To check to see your device has loaded go to the control panel.
Double click on system, if you cannot see system icon click on Switch to Classic View then select system. Select the hardware tab. Click on Device manager. Double Click on Network Adapters. Under that you will now see at least 2 devices. The on board ethernet card and the other the wireless network. If there is a device then your done and you can close off and run your CD for the linksys. If you still don't have the card installed, you should see if it works on someone elses laptop before you give up. If it doesn't then it's faulty, but if it does then you will need to reinstall your windows program as it's not functioning properly for you pcmia card.

*NEWS FLASH. I just had a thought, windows drivers for your pcmia or what it's called needs drivers in order to operate correctly. You will need to go online and search for your laptop drivers. Look for your laptop company like HP.com or Dell.com and so on. Let me know if you have any luck! Will help others if this is the error!

Have you tried to download all new drivers for the device? Or is there an installation file which will install itself?
Here is a link to download driver, on the page scroll down to the Box Download and click on it. It's 18.1megs. See how you go, no harm in trying it! Let me know if it works!

My linksys wpc54g repeatedly says "network cable unplugged" then reconnects

WPC54g is a wireless adapter. The message that you are getting is the message for the Local area connection. This message has nothing to do with the WPC54G. This message is for the wired connection and not for the wireless connection.

Go to this website on a computer where you can download the drivers. http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WPC54G/download Copy the downloaded file onto a USB drive (thumb drive) and then install the driver from the USB drive onto your laptop before you insert the wireless adapter card into the laptop. After the driver installation is complete, then install the card into your laptop and it should be recognized and after a couple of minutes, should be ready to go.

Linksys WPC54G Wireless-G Notebook... Problem:

Your computer locking up could be a spyware or virus program taking over your machine as soon as you get an internet connection.

Try connecting the laptop to a wired connection and see if it does the same thing.
Run some virus scans from trend micro.

If you can re-install the software for the wireless card. This might help too.

Firefox can freeze your system but highly unlikely from a fresh install.

best wishes.

"WPC54G is not installed"

Those install programs that Linksys uses are terrible. This happens all the time.

You probably can't use the linksys program to install the software on a Windows 2000 machine you should be able to install just the driver you need. I have never used wireless networking on a Win 2000 computer before. Win XP has sotware already built into the operating systems to deal with wireless networking.

Uninstall all Linksys wireless networking software. Restart you computer with the wirless network card install and let Windows search for the correct drivers on the CD.

Linksys

I used to have a Linksys WPC54G. Thia is normal for the LinkSys WPC54G. How ever in your configurations make sure everything is enabled. But as this being a wireless adapter you should make sure you use AdHoc Mode configurations and set it to channel 6 works the best and set it to G-Only mode not mixed..See the network light blinks and it should be flashing fast for it to conect. I had this same problem. I decided to reconfigure my Linksys to AdHoc and it seemed to work better form me. For as the secure links I set them at non secure and I manually set up my IP Address which is 192.168.1.01-255 Sub net mask is 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1 DCHP Server is also 192.168.1.1 I do hope this helps if it doesn't I say try moving your laptop around until your Wireless Network enables. there is always Tech Support on Linksys.com also. Good luck and I hope this works for you.
