I bouhgt this computer gateway DX4720-03 about 1 year ago. Ever since it keeps locking up evry 15 minutes or so and had to be rebooted. I have updated the BIOs but no difference. I have changed the...

Hello,
It sounds like CPU is overheating, but other components such as the video card or motherboard chipset can also be overheating. It could be that the cooling fan either has failed or is starting to fail too. Make sure all the fans are spinning and the computer is several inches from wall and that the fan ports are unobstructed. This helps keep the CPU cool. Also try removing and reseating the processor; then reinstall the CPU heatsink with new thermal interface material.
I hope this help you.

Ek Dada, Ek Bap, Ek Pota, Tino ki age 140 yers. Pota jitne month ka dada utne sal ka, pota jitne din Ka,.Bap utne week ka, WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

OK here it is.

Dada is 84 years old (grandfather)

Baap is 49 years old (father)

Pota is 7 years old (grandson)

Check: 84 + 49 + 7 = 140 years

Read below if you want to know how to solve (Its a simultaneous eq. of 3 variables bdw :)):

Let Dada be D years, Baap be B years and Pota be P years

D + B + P = 140 (given)----------------------------- (1)

Constraints:

D = 12P; --------------------------------------------------- (2) 1 year is 12 months; 52 weeks; and 365 days

52B = 365P; --------------------------------------------- (3)

Substitute value of P from (3) into (2) therefore D = (12 * 52/365)B ------------------- (4)

Put (4) in 1 to get

(12*52/365)B + B + (52/365)B = 140

This gives B = 49 years. Put in above eqs to get other values.

The Gigabyte liquid cooling system's pump in my 3-year old pc from ABS is starting to make noises, there's no coolant flowing through the hoses, and the radiator fan on the outside of the chassis isn't...

without the CORRECT fluid, or an additive for the lubrication of the pump in "UV Additive" water- Not From TAP or Sink- you will wear-out the pump FAST. the fan isn't spinning because it was "Most Likely" never cleaned properly- using a can of 'compressed air' and blown off lightly from the FRONT of the fan to keep from getting any dust, fuzz, hair or webbing in between the fan blade center hub and the inner electonics/bearings. You MUST read ALL paperwork that comes with "High-End PC Modification equip. before use. You also MUST do exactly as the instructions state- Flush & Clean fluids throughout Entire system- hoses, pump, reservoir, and radiator- at least once a year. I have 3 water-cooled systems and the oldest one is from '05 and it doesn't make a bit of noise- I have a very quiet 120mm fan connected to the radiator, and the other two are 80mm fans and are 3 and 2-1/2 yrs. old. A tablespoon of "WaterWetter" (Automotive- high performance racing applications) to the average system will do the trick. Try this with your 'Noisy' pump now, but add about a 1/4 cup to the FILTERED WATER and run it for a few days. Also, the Scythe fan is THE MOST QUIET, but a few $'s more- worth it all of the way, too. Lasts as long as you keep up on cleaning and reg. maint. of your PC. e-mail me anytime, as I can help you with anything having to do with advice of all areas in PC structure, modding, components, building, sftwr, etc.... elbro63@gmail.com

I have a Systemax Venture computer that is 3 years old. Just developed a problem. Turn the computer on and after 20 to 30 seconds the computer shut down. What is wrong???

Hi there.
Remove all power to the desktop, remove the side panel, power the machine up and check that CPU fan is working, if it is turn the computer back off, get a clean, dry paintbrush and gently clean the fan blades and the metal heat sync behind the fan of dust, then restart the PC to see how long it stays on for. If this time it stays on it was overheating.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

Computer keeps freezing

First thing I would do would be to run some virus and spyware scans. If you have any bad files on th system it could definetely inhibit the speed of your PC. Let me know how that works out.

Check out download.com for some free scanners.
