Computer unresponsive and error code 200 -0146

that is a dead hard drive. Im sorry. 2000-0146 means that the hard drive has failed its "self test" and is telling the computer it has a malfunction. *sometimes* the drive can be used with the malfunction just long enough to get your data, and sometimes it dies instantly: it depends on *what* the malfunction is, but in any case, the news is bad. Your drive is dying or dead and it must be replaced.

How to remove hard drive from presario sr1920nx

power down the system, open the box, and remove the two cables attached to the drive. remove the screws holding the drive to the framework. slide it out and use it as a boat anchor...(kidding) This is not rocket science. Take the dead drive to your local computer parts dealer and see if he still stocks those parts, or look on ebay.... if the drive is dead, so is the data on it.

HP2009 Boot up does not load to login prompt

What is it prompting you?

Is text blinking on a black screen and saying "Please insert a bootable media drive" or something along those lines? If so, your hard drive may have given out!

Regardless you're going to have to reformat the computer, you can test if the Hard Drive is dead by in fact installing windows (or any OS) on it. If it refuses and fails chances are the hard drive is dead! Another possibility is the SATA (or IDE no clue what you're using!) port could be damaged which the Hard Drive plugs into.

Pretty much, tell me what it prompts you and I could guide you from there buddy! :)

Windows 2000 cannot access USB drives for installation.
You need to replace the dead drive with a new IDE or PATA drive. That machine will not accept an SATA drive.

My hard drive just stop working

Try hooking it up as a secondary hard drive in another computer to see if it is really dead or just some problem with your own computer's setup / wiring etc.

If the hard drive is dead (doesn't work in the other computer either), then you are just going to have to get a new one and reinstall your operating system on that. They do fail regularly.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

You can replace the hard drive with a larger capacity hard drive. Best bet would be a 250GB .
Hard drive have come down in prices, you should be able to get a 250 GB. for less then $100.
Western Digital ansd Seagate are my preference.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Bad hard drive back up and replace on evesham ebox

The only thing I can think of is you might hook up the drive as "slave" drive on a working computer and see if it will operate long enough to retrieve your data. But if the drive is dead you may have lost everything that was on it. There are services that do data recovery on dead hard drives but I'm sure it is expensive to have this done. This is why I always back up everything I do to a different device while I am working.

The computer I need help with is my HP Media Center PC m7367c / Serial # MXK552071W / Windows xp media center 2005. When starting my computer, it locks up at the blue hp screen and never boots up.

your hard drive may be dead, try unpluggin the hard drive and plug it back in. Hopefully your motherboard will detect the hard drive, if this doesn't work, most likely your hard drive is dead
