So that the icon can be place at the phone screen. I't is o.k to do so. I't is the phone default. To make the apps more working. In this unit your SD card is more on storage file's like picture, music so on and so fort. except installed apps. you can download apps save it in SD but after installing, it will automatically save at the phone memory. If your phone memory is full? you have to uninstall some of the other apps.

Android phones are smart it may be that your phone doesn't support the data that the application has to offer or it may be to big and you don't have enough memory or there is a security problem with the application

I downloaded a free games for x10 to memory card but when i put it back in and look for it at the games it can't be found. i tried to open the Games at the memory card it says 'No supported files".....

Te Sony Xperia X10 phone uses Google Android. Therefore, when you download games off the internet and load it into your phones memory, you need to be able to browse to the location where you placed the .apk file and install it. All android applications are .apk The easiest way to be able to browse and install files from your SD card is to use a free file manager such as ASTRO. You can find this application in the Market for free.

Hi,

It seems most of you applications are stored in the Phone Memory and/or your application data is taking up lot of memory. You actually don't have to erase/uninstall applications. Please consider performing the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications. In this Menu you'll be shown a list of applications. Use the Menu Button to "Sort by Size" and get a list of the applications sorted from high memory usage to low (phone memory). Once this is done, you'll be able to view the memory being used by each of the applications. Click on the applications which you see are consuming more memory and then use the "Clear Data" button to clean up the data being stored by the applications to free up memory. This clears up any cache, cookie, temp files associated with the applications. Depending on your android version, you may also see an additional button "Move to SD Card". The best option to get more space would be to use this button and move the application to the 4 GB SD Card storage.
  2. Optional Step if you do not have "Move to Phone/SD Card" option available - From the Android Market, download and install "App 2 SD Free". Once done, this application should help you free up a lot of space by moving applications from your phone memory to the SD card.
Hope this was helpful. If so, please consider rating this solution.

-thanks,
M

I have a g1 and I don't kno how to put pictures or applications on my sd card. Does it do it by itself or do I have to download something and how do I do that?

To put pictures on your SD card all you need to do is attach the G1 to your computer, mount the SD card when the notification comes up on your phone, and then copy and paste any pictures you want onto it. However, you can't save applications on the SD card, they are saved in the phone memory when you download them from the Android Market.
