Memory stick usually refers to a usb device that can be inserted into the laptop to provide removable storage. This is not part of the laptop. Memory sticks can be purchased as an accessory and can be used on PC's, Laptops or any other device that supports usb memory sticks.
Some people may also refer to the physical memory that is in the laptop as sticks but this is not generally know as stick memory. The physical memory can usually be accessed underneath the laptop by removing a single screw to the door cover. The Dell D610 for example has one memory module on the underside of the laptop and a second located under the keyboard which means the keyboard has to be removed to access.

Memory sticks now have two types regular and HC. The memory stick is either nor or nand? The new high capacity nand flash cards can not be use in older cameras. Older cameras also have limits on the capacity that it can access. Read your manual to check out the size of memory stick it can use. Most stores sell large capacity memory sticks only good for new digital cameras. you may have to buy older flash cards on ebay.
Once you installed the memory, did you enter into the System BIOS Setup screen? Do this and verify that the system recognizes the newly installed 2GB RAM. This should let the system access the new memory once you boot.
It means that the PSP system was having problems accessing the memory storage device connected to it. Probable cause might be due to corrupted files/data in the memory stick. Normally faormatting the memory stick will fix it, otherwise if formatting won't resolve the issue it means that the memory stick has gone faulty and needs replacement.
It sounds like the software on the card has suddenly dissappeared. Try downloading the software from sony back onto the card. Let me know if this helps.
I was having the same problem with my 4GB memory stick pro duo, when i took more than 50 pictures with my camera (dsc-w90) i would get the blue screen with the file error message. I'm guessing you bought the memory stick on ebay right? I bought mines there and it turns out it's a fake one. If you also bought it there then you most likely have a fake memory stick because I found out that most of the memory sticks sold on ebay are fake, to help you figure out if you have a fake one or not check out this guide or google fake memory stick pro duo.
