Try changing the toner cartridge. If you have a spare toner swap it out. If you have to order a toner, and it ends up not being the problem, you can still store the toner out of light in a normal room temperature until the original toner is empty.
If it isn't the toner, the next option is the fusing assembly. This is in the back of the printer and gets warm/hot to melt and bond the toner on the paper. It usually isn't a user replaceable part. There is a film on the fuser roller that sometimes gets worn or broken especially if there has been a bad paper jam removed incorrectly. If you see little pieces of grey/brown plastic like or teflon coated things in there, its probably the fuser.
If the printer is under warranty you can call HP for service, if not, you can find a local service person to fix that. Shouldn't be too expensive for a fuser. Cheaper than a new printer.
