This is a tried and tested way to recover it takes quite long but here goes: (remember to backup all your documents first)
First you will need your Windows Vista Home Premium licence key the easiest way is to boot to safe mode using F8 then use a U3 stick USB drive with this U3 WinkeyFinder installed to find and save your Genuine Licence and also backup your Windows Activation file you will need this for later.
1.Install your Windows Vista Home SP1 operating system using the normal method with your install CD use you Genuine Key found using WinKey. Then restore you activation file using Winkey on the U3 drive.
2. Dowload the Windows Vista SP2 Patch CD from the Windows Website.
3. Reload all you drivers using this excellent Aspire 6920 recovery CD from WinGuides. It will cost you £10.
All done. if you dont have a Windows Vista SP1 Install CD then you will also have to download one which you can do legally as you already have a Genuine Licence if not check using this MGA Tool
