Laptop Cursor keeps jumping

Hi

when im typing on my medion laptop my cursor will jump suddenly and most times end up half way through an earlier sentance. This has become frustrating as i have tried to disable the mouse pad using Fn + f9 but it doesnt have any effect

Im not sure what is causing this the laptop is under 6mths old and I still have all the cds etc that came with it. It has Vista as the windows package if that helps. I am trying to avoid sending it back for fixing as I have heard so many plp getting messed around and need my laptop for work.

Do I need to re download the drivers for the keyboard / and or mouse?? If so where would i get these from.

I highly recommend this person to all - as I have had many plp trying to sort this problem out, and searched the net extensively for an answer.

I will def seek your assistance again if the problem reoccurs and the above doesn't work that time, or if I have any other problems that need solving.

Cursor jump while typing

It's the touchpad driver that's causing it. I suggest that you update the driver. You can search for the driver manually or use RadarSync to save your time.

What to do when cursor keeps jumping

Many laptops have a settings window for the touchpad/mouse (look in the Control Panel); after getting this laptop I had the same problem. I went into the options and checked the box that said something like "Disable Touchpad when Typing." Look for an option like that in your touchpad settings.

My Inspiron Laptop cursor keeps jumping around...need to fix very annoying.

There is a possibility you might have a virus, update your definitions and run a deep or full scan, failing that! hook an external mouse to your laptop, if no change! run your system restore bringing the computer back to an earlier time before the problem, if no change! do a full system recovery of windows, this will bring it back to factory settings.

I have an Acer laptop. While typing the cursor suddenly jumps up a couple of lines, or suddenly may highlight a phrase, causing instant erasure of the previously typed material. Why does cursor continually...

your palm might be hitting the touchpad causing your mouse cursor to move and jump around... try to type with only your fingers hitting the keys and the back of your hand raised and not hitting any part of your laptop... hope this helps....

When I am typing he cursor jumps around

It is a fault with Lenovo laptops. My cursor jumps all the time, no matter what software I am using. It is NOT the 'sensitivity' of the touchpad, for my cursor jumps even when I am not typing, even if I don't touch the laptop! I can set the cursor to a certain point on a document and then, after about 30 seconds, it will just jump to another point, even if I am in another room.

Jumping cursor

This is a really common problem thats not actually a problem.
Go to trackpad settings and make sure tap to click is off.
Most laptops allow you to tap the track pad to act as a mouse button, try it go to an icon tap the trackpad youll see that the icon highlights as if you are actually left clicking.
When your typing the trackpad senses your arm or wrist occasionaly and thinks your tapping the mouse, thus moving the cursor.
So go into trackpad settings and turn off tap to click.

Cursor(pointer) cannot be moved by using touchpad but possibe wit

Hi,

This happens to me also. Check whether the touchpad is enabled (laptops do have an option of enabling / disabling the touchpad). Secondly, you can try reinstalling the touchpad driver. Uninstall and then re-install the driver. Re-boot the system. Try using the touchpad.

Hope this helps., if so, rate me.. thanks - billa
