Unfortunatly no there isnt any way to get those photos back, but for future referance I would check your manual on how to lock the pictures in your camera.

There's a difference...deleted pictures can sometimes be recovered using photo recovery software....formatted pictures cannot.

Good big picture and it doesn't matter that it has Canon written on the SD card in the picture the SD card is interchangeable between the two makes.

Now one other thing that may also be the problem is that the SD card needs to be formatted to the camera. Formatting should be done on new memory cards and after you have downloaded pictures to the computer. That's format not delete, delete leaves a mess on the card Formatting cleans the card and provides proper communications between the camera and the memory card

Memory card requires formatting and its a new card? never had a problem with changing memory card

All memory cards need formatting (initializing) before use. The camera writes a little program to it makes for a better working card. If you just stick it in and start taking pictures you will receive sloppy performance a slower download read errors and just **** performance. That's not to say it won't work. Another thing is after you have down loaded the pictures to a computer the card goes back into the camera and is formatted in the camera. Always format delete should only be used when you need space and is not the way you empty your card of pictures doing that just makes a mess out of the card and eventually it won't hold many pictures or just refuses at all.

Date Stamp & Formatting SD Cards

The "postcard" option is not available in the digital macro (flower with a D on it) or stitch assist modes, nor in any of the movie modes. If you're in any other mode, it should be available under the size option (bottom icon on the function menu).

There may be a way to get your images back if you haven't taken any pictures after you formatted your card. Do a google search on "image recovery".

Camera says error formatting memory stick

Preformat : By Fix-shad0w

#1
Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

What does PICTURE ERROR mean? not in manual nor on line

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card as the card has become corrupted. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Ok button - right arrow to Mode Menu - down arrow to Card tab - right arrow to card setup - right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the picture error message and the card can be used again.

Look for a format button on the remote or a zoom button. If you find it, press it. Most TVs have several options of format that you would scroll through with each push. If it is a Dish Network remote, use the format button "*" at the bottom left, if it is DirecTV the format button is top left, second button marked "Format".
