This is usually a matter of pulling the drawer right out (it is designed to let you do this) and taking it to bits (it's designed for this too). Most front-loaders have a bit of a design weakness in that the bit that gets blocked with conditioner isn't immediately obvious without a little bit of prior dismantling. Once you get the top off the drawer, you'll almost certainly find the siphon tube gummed up with old conditioner. Clean this up under a hot tap, then reassemble and all should be well. A.

The easiest thing would be to switch to liquid detergent or a different brand of powder. There might be diminished water flow. Try cleaning the nozzles where the water comes into the dispenser at.
SOURCE: water staying in the conditioner tray
You dont say which machine you have, but a lot of conditioner trays work by siphon action.
If at one end of the conditioner tray there is what looks like a closed off tube sticking up, this is the siphon. To remove it, it should just pull off. Check the tube is clean inside and out with no residues left from the conditioner. Also check the tube sticking up from the base of the conditioner tray - this should also be nice and clean, and should be clear of any obstructions. May be worth poking something like a cocktail stick down it just to make sure it's clear. Then push the closed off tube back on. The siphon action can be checked by pouring water into the conditroner tray - as the tray gets close to full the siphon action should kick in and then empy the tray.
Hope this is of some help.
