Refilled IP1800 cartridges cant be recognised after clean install of OS

I've just done a clean install of my operating system and now my canon pixma IP1800 wont recognise the cartridges.

I've tried turning of the status monitor and leaving it unpluged but that hasn't worked.

Is there anyway of resetting the printer and installing these cartridges. Thanks in advance.

go the same problem as yours, well the only solution taht come up in my mind is try to buy a genuine ink.... the only problem is the printer does not still recognize the ink, so the tech support told me that this one of the consequence in using a refilled ink so this means that it voids the warranty all i need to do is to pay someone who repair it, i don't know what they did but they had fix the problem!!! got no choice but to buy genuine cartridge every time i ran out of ink

After trawling the internet for an answer all I can say is dont buy this printer. Take it back and get one that doesn't have chipped cartridges.

The cartridges that are in this machine will only print a certain number of times no matter what, so if you get them filled up they might work for a while but once that certain number is reached KAPUTT they wont work. Change the cartridges for new one's and then put old one's back in, this might fool the printer but I heard the rotation has to be three cartridge changes.

Certain canon cartridges can be reset when refilled ie by cartridge world or buying a resetter, retail cost is about 27 Euro.

For resetting the cartridges, press the "RESUME" button (triangle in circle) for about 10 seconds for each cartridge, that should reset them.

The ink cartridge that was in my Canon Pixma iP1800 printer suddenly got an error message saying it was not properly installed. It had been in place for months. I ordered a new cartridge. It didn't work...

I will try a printer reset.
Remove both cartridges and close cover.
Unplug printer from electrical outlet and wait at least 10 minutes.
The wait time will let the printer to fully cleared memory and
also to cool down if printer was overheating.
Plug printer back in and turn on printer.
Wait for printer to stop.
Install both cartridges.

I have misplaced the iP1800 printer cd, i want to install it now what must i do.

I can help you better if you had mentioned the operating system installed on your system which you are going to install your printer, anyway follow these links;
1. Canon Pixma iP1800 drivers
2. Canon pixma ip1800 inkjet photo printer (you choose the link, both will work, but they are from different websites/servers)
After opening the link, select you operating system type, and then click on the drivers available from the lists. Follow the onscreen instructions to download the drivers.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

If the cartridge is new, probably the connector between head and cartridge is dirt. clean it using dry tissue and never touch by hand the metal plate

Printer cartridges not recognised

Sometimes even when an ink cartridge has been refilled to capacity, your printer still registers it as empty. This is because your printer remembers that the cartridge was previously installed and it can only remember it as being empty. Part of this is due to technology put in place by printer manufacturers so that you will always have to buy new cartridges. Part of it is also that print catridges are clogged if not used for sometime after its empty even after refilling this is because the contact was already clogged due to the dryness of the old ink inside it before refilling so in that case you will clean/soak the contacts with solvent before refilling .
again since there is no “official” way to fix this problem, you have to basically clear the printer’s memory to make it recognize that you are installing a full cartridge. If you have tried to install the refilled cartridge and you have done all you can to convince your printer that the cartridge isn’t still empty, then basically you just have to unplug your printer for a minute and then trying reinstalling again. but it should fix this problem and it can potentially fix other annoying things your printer is doing.
