Sony G500 brightness problem

By Green1 - usenet poster

I have a Sony CPD-G500 monitor which was, unfortunately, dropped on the
floor (!). This blew the power supply, which has been replaced at the cost
of many $$$$. However, now the picture looks as if I turned the screen
control (there isn't one, by the way) all the way up, with raster lines and
all. There is a picture when hooked up to a computer, however.
The power supply is a new one from Sony.

Any help?
Thanks!

There is a screen control, but it's controlled by the micro.  You may
have a failure in the screen control circuit.  Don't overlook the
possibility of normal G2, but high G1.  The G1 is sometimes used to
control the brightness.  Does it have a CXA1907S on the video board?  I
have a 3 year old sony with low G2 because of a failure of that IC.

If it was dropped then there's probably a hairline crack somewhere in
the main board that you'll have to track down.
