I accidentally "formatted" my memory card on my Canon A410 digital camera. Now... my photos are no where to be found.

You cant format means wipe or delete EVERYTHING including files and folders you have to start from scratch. I had to learn the hard way as well.

I am getting memory card error with canon powershot a410

The A410 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card and won't work in devices not designed to use them. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

How to format my camera to fit more pictures on my memory card it is a 16 gig

The A410 works with MMC and SD cards, which are limited to 2GB. While SDHC cards, like your 16GB card, will fit into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You can't format a 16GB SDHC card to behave as a 2GB SD card. You will have to use cards 2GB and smaller.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

I am using a LEXAR memory card. I formatted it on

Are you using the camera connected to the computer via usb cord? Try using a separate card reader instead.

Accidentally clicked OK when message 'format memory card' showed up when viewing my pictures. Canon PowerShot A570. Can the pictures be recovered?

Well, no matter you photos in Canon camera got deleted, formatted by accident or became inaccessible due to camera memory card errors. Chances of recovery is possible as long as you take the right action.

Take a try of this Canon photo reocvery software, Not only general photo formats, but Canon RAW photo formats (.cr2 or .crw) can be retrieved easily.

Note: before the photos are recovered, Never should you attempt to take more photos or save more data to the memory card in case chances of photo recovery might be reduced. Hope it helps. Regards.

Photo's taken, not on memory card

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

The reason this occurred is that you likely never formatted the card in your camera. The card will work fine in the beginning but eventually will corrupt. AFTER you've recovered the photos, format the card in your camera to prevent this from happening again (press function, select tools menu, select item stating your card's memory capacity, then follow the prompts for low-level format). Keep in mind formatting will also totally erase your card, so again only do this AFTER you've recovered the photos.

Camera wont turn on

I just posted that I have this problem as well. Then, after browsing further at Canon's site, I found a possible link between the memory card and the power problem. Sure enough, I popped the memory card out and reinserted it and the camera powered right up. I hope this helps others. . . .

It depends on whether you did a "Full" format or just a "Quick" format. Take no more pics until you've attempted recovery of the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:
