INFO ON REPLACEMENT DIGITAL CAMERA SCREEN

I have a Kodak Easyshare Z1275 which my son forced into my wife's handbag breaking the screen.

I have heard the screens are relatively inexpensive to buy for self repair.

Could you tell me where to purchase a screen and some instruction on how to fit the sreen.

Thanks...

Screens for the Z1275 can be found on Ebay for as little as $20 w/shipping. The rear case of the camera is held in place with 5 screws, one of which is under the left side panel (looking from the rear). Make sure the battery and SD card are removed before starting. Remove the right side panel by removing the two black screws and by opening the battery door it will help give you access to lift it away. Remove one chrome screw on the bottom back and one black screw the bottom left holding the left side panel in place. Slide the left side panel downward and remove the last screw underneath. The rear case is now held in place by several snap-fit points around the edge. Using a small nylon pry tool, strong fingernail, or a small flat screwdriver, work your way around the case and carefully pry the sides and bottom enough to release the rear case. Once the back is removed you can release the LCD from its frame by gently prying the frame around the LCD and lifting it up to gain access to the ribbon cables attaching it to the circuit board. The larger cable is held in place by a locking bar on the socket that has to be lifted to release it. Using care not to break it, pry the bar up so that it pivots 90 degrees. The smaller cable uses a slider that can be released by pushing the two tabs on either side of the socket toward the cable until it stops (only a millimeter or two). At this point the cables should slide out quite easily. Reverse the procedure to install the replacement LCD.

go to ebay is the cheapest route, find one with a screen that works and is broken. There are 6 screws in the camera remove, be carefull when pulling the camera apart not to break the plastic.

The back screen on my kodak C743 is malfunctioning

You are correct. The LCD screen is broken. This is super common with the C743. It is unprotected and unlike most LCD's, there is no hard plastic or glass screen over the LCD. My wife broke my son's 1st 743 when she left it in her bag. My son broke the second one by packing it in his duffle bag for a summer camp trip.

You can spend about $40 for a replacement that will probably break again, move on to another camera or use this as a "green mode only" point and shoot camera just like the old days where you don't know what you got until you get home. You can still hook it up to your TV set to change the settings and review your pics, but that's all you are left with.

I don't know about kodak, but the screens I have checked on are really expensive, like in the range of $65.00 and up. I would contact Kodak support at their web site, they have it available.
