Same issue- started the process with Sony via phone. Was told that there was NO Warranty extension on KDS-XXA2000- only KDSR model (those subject of Class Action Settlement).
My comment to the customer service rep. was that I suspect the KDS-60A2000 and related line has a similar Optical Block problem- it just hasn't reached "critical mass" of complaints yet.
I expect resolution to take some time and many contacts with Sony. They don't want to admit the problem is not isolated.
Finally, I live in an area to about 250,000, yet no one offers in-home service- a cautionary tale for those with large TV sets.
    To be continued...

I have the same yellowing and it has started to expand to other area's of the picture. It is visible from all sources I will contact sony about the problem.

same yellowing with blue haze - pretty sure it's a bad optical block and a repair cost that is prohibitive - clearly a defective sony product that they will not fix or stand behind - sad commentary on quality and lack of concern regarding this ongoing problem - the only way they will address it is if another class action suit is filed againt this company

Sony is no longer fixing the KDS-60A2000 optical block but offering a KDL55V5100 for $600 in Canada as a replacement.

The piece of garbage they replaced it with only lasted 2 years. No more Sony

Common problem (unfortunately) - the optical block is faulty and needs to be replaced.  Contact Sony support and jump through the required hoops.  If your set is still under warranty, no worries.  If not, expect to pay for labour, and Sony will *probably* provide the service part at no charge (~$1300 retail).  It is not a simple process, be patient.  It has taken me over a month and a half of calls, faxes, and waiting to get all the paperwork done on my 60A2000 failure.  For more information on the problem, Google "sxrd + optical block"

On a white picture my screen has a yellow color to it and at times mill have a blue blur on the bottom left corner of the screen. also i get blue dots in the middle on the screen.

Hello: Seems like you have a picture tube problem. The yellow color is from a weak green crt. I suggest replacing the Red and Green Crt's in this model. They are nortoriuos for Failure especially the Red. The cost for these tube vary from 110.00ea to 150.00each. I don't know if you want to spend that type of money on this set, as i Know this peticular set has an expectional picture quailty, my experience with replacing sony picture tubes, is to replace all three tubes, as the new ones will show brighter. So replacing the red and green crt's and not the blue is not recommened. But thats up to you, you might not notice the color difference yourself. You also have the option of sending the Crt's for refurbished ones or having the originals rebuilt by a company in Calif, called VDC, Video display Corp. They sell and refurbish sony CRTs. This route is much cheaper, the only problem is having the crt's taken out and sent for repair. The other option is to think about purchasing a new set. As this repair price could reach into hundreds of dollars, Around $600 to $700 for parts and Labor..

My Hitachi LCD rear projection TV has blue color in left corner

It is most likely the tube going out. Find some one to replace the tube if the TV is fairly new other wise it is going to be a trend. One tube now and another.. and so on. Ride it out as long as you can then go for an upgrade

Yellow spot in center of screen

I have recently developed the same yellow spot problem on my Sony KDF-E50A10  50" LCD television...a large yellow circular hue that takes up the bottom center of the picture and is especially noticeable against a white background.  It has been diagnosed as the optical block (light engine) and without an extended warranty Sony refuses to assist with the repair cost.  Repair was estimated at $1,100 plus tax and travel fees to my home.  So you see, it is not only a Hitachi problem.  You would think they could build something that would last more than two years considering the initial cost of over two grand for the TV !
