Hi Louise Strydom, what type of HASP dongle do you have? What software on the system requires the dongle?
I know with some embroidery software, the dongle gets linked to a specific USB port. Make sure that the USB port is working by plugging in another device. Check if you have changed ports from the one that first was associated with the dongle. In some cases, the dongle may not have a compatible USB driver. Windows 10 now requires a signed 64-bit driver. If your dongle was programmed to run with older Windows versions, an update may not be available from Windows Update. (Do try running Windows Update with the system set to check automatically for device driver updates.) Check with the provider of the dongle/software to see if they have a patch available.
A variety of embroidery programs exist which use dongles. The failure to recognize the dongle for many of them seems resolved by acquisition of updated drivers. Access to the particular drivers has sometimes required contact with the software companies involved which then may provide links to a particular driver. An updated version of software may also be required. I suspect you are running the XP program in compatibility mode on a Windows 7 laptop. If you contact the software seller for support, you should include that detail. Here are some pages dealing with resolution of the dongle issue for several programs:
I would suggest to connect your Acer through wire (cable), install any good DriverInstaller and run it. Or, if you're computer literate, look for driver by using DEV_ID info from device properties. The other solution will be to buy an USB WiFi dongle.
The Acer Aspire netbook I bought has a switch on it to connect to the WiFi Internet G. If you want to use the dongle to communicate on the Internet, then first try to use the built in Wifi to install the driver for it.
Then your problem is most likely driver-related. The chances are nill that both mouse AND keyboard are defective. Looks like it is down to one of two scenarios. Either the driver is incorrect or corrupt, or the dongle itself is malfunctioning. The driver would be first choice since it would be a free fix to rule out.
try uninstalling the driver first, then reboot. Next go to mfg website for the keyboard/mouse/dongle and download a fresh driver. Then reboot. Note that preferably, the correct protocol would be to install the driver first, before plugging in the dongle. Hope this helps. One question I can think of regarding the dongle is whether or not the dongle lights up when plugged in - some do. If yours is supposed to but does not, it could be the dongle itself. The bottom line now is between the dongle and a driver really. I'd be willing to bet the mouse and keyboard are just fine they just can't interface because the dongle is the gateway and you know the rest...good luck.
start /control /device mnager/ the look for modems /double click /and and update driver
if you do not have internet try useing usb payand go dongle for access
internet to update driver /if this dont wok /you need to go to another pc nd download a ethernet driver for your modle
it sounds like a driver / software /hardware conflict. try uninstalling and reinstalling dongle software, or visit the manufacturers webpage for the most updated drivers. If this helps, please give a fixya rating, everyone of them helps
Realtek Audio Driver is your Multimedia Audio Controller. NVIDIA VGA Driver should be your Video Controller, if that don't work try SIS VGA Driver.
SiS 661 chipset driver should fix your usb problem, if it dosn't update windows to SP2. Get that from here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/. Then try again with SiS 661 Chipset Driver.
You should also install the rest of the drivers for your aspire sa80.
You said you had no access to internet so burn the drivers using a friends computer (one with internet) and install from the disc and you should be fine.
