hi.. I also had this problem with canon ixus 75. i took it to the service center and they just knocked its lens(lightly) when it was on ON mode, then suddenly the screen started working.
But he said that u should use it on regular basis for few days and if the problem occurs again. then we will have to change the sensor, I think he said sensor or something like that.
my camera when i turn on the screen show black i can't see any thing even the menu. i changed all batteries working the light is on but cant see anything. i don't know what to do

My Samsung PL50 camera seems to have problems detecting when a flash should be used or not. Half the time our photos are far too dark, and often other times the flash explodes turning everyone bright white.
I have the same problem with this camera. The problem came on gradually, however. The screen would go black intermittently. Now it stays black. I can see menu options and look at old photos, but the screen is blank in camera mode and will only take blank pictures. I suspect a faulty CCD or a faulty connection to the CCD is the problem. Canon had this problem with earlier models and even had a free repair program in response. Unfortunately, this model does not seem to be included in the free repair program.
I have the same problem and this is my second camera that is doing this. I received the first Camera in May as a wedding present. My sister-in-law took it back to the store in June. We got the same exact camera replaced and last night (12/8/08) I was taking pictures and it did it again. I don't know what to do and I cannot seem to find any answers on to how to fix it. I doubt I will go buy a new one. I am thinking I am going back to Kodak!

Same here... the dispay information works but there is no display image, just a black screen.
