My Gateway beeps twice as soon as it is turn on, but noting appears on the screen. Is this PC toast?

2 short beeps. This means that there is some misconfiguration in the motherboard's BIOS settings or that a non-specific error has occurred.

Usually this error is encountered when manually setting the hardware specifications of your RAM, CPU, GPU, etc., rather than letting the BIOS auto-assign the settings. This can also be encountered when trying to "overclock" certain aspects of your computer.

If you encounter this error, usually just turning the computer off, waiting a few seconds, and then turning it back on will reset the BIOS to default settings, allowing you to boot up and make the appropriate changes to your settings.

I can't access the Web through my Linux operating system. Do I need a special Web modem?

Hello,
The answer to the question is not easy.
If you have a broadband (cable, DSL), or wireless connection you DO NOT need a special modem.
If you connect through DIAL UP, by composing a telephone number you do that through a telephone modem. But these modems are of two sorts: a hardware modem or a software modem. A few years ago, the Linux distributions did not support software modem; only true (hardware) modem were supported.
So, if you do not use dial up you do not need a special modem.
Hope it helps.

Network Connect Problem

If your machine is initially connecting then not connecting after some time. I would try the following:
1. Ensure you have a stable connection with your Internet service provider. Check cables and make sure you're not having any power or connection issues with your modem.
2. If this does not seem to be the source of the problem. You may have a problem with malicious software as the connection seems to work initially and then stop. Go to Download.com and download Malwarebyte's Antimalware and scan your machine.
3. If this doesn't solve your problems you may be having hardware issues which may require a replacement of your network card or connected device.

I'm am trying to play age of mythology and after the movie ends, error appears and states "initialization failed".

Initialization failed

This means that the game is attempting to initialize hardware such as the video card but has failed

This can be caused by a number of factors.

1. Your hardware does not meet the games hardware requirements
2. Your hardware requires farther configuration to run the game properly

if you are certan that the game supports your hardware you may need to perform
some extra steps to get your game working

"Failed to initialize" is an incomplete error message because it does not tell you what exactly failed
a more complete error message would read "Failed to initialize the video subsystem" and then it would give an error code such as Error Code xxx telling you exactly what error code to look up
to determine what exactly failed.

Most of the time when a game says ( failed to initialize ) that means a video issue
this may mean missing files or wrong versions of files or incompatable hardware.

I can't conect my dsl in my computer

Hi,

Most DSL would need an interface of some sort commonly called a modem. Normally the DSL would come in to the modem and the modem would output it to your PC either through an Ethernet port or through a USB port. Of course an active subscription to the DSL provider is a prerequisite.

Standard network settings for the PC would be to "Obtain an IP address automatically". This would work on either wired Ethernet hook up or WiFi connection. Of course prerequisite would be correctly installed hardware and supporting drivers.

If your concern has not been addresses or if problem persist, you need to p[ost back your modem's brand & model, your ISP, your type of connection and the brand and model of your.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
