You won't know, usually the Timing Chain is good indefinitely unless your engine starts running bad and it is because the Chain is stretched and your engine jumped a tooth on the gear and now the timing is off.

Either your car won't start, or if it does it will backfire and sputter. Then check your timing when the timing mark gets dead center on the flywheel, your number one piston should be at the top of its stroke, you can pull the plugs and check this with a pencil inserted in the spark plug hole!

Do you know how to fix timing chain

Timing chains cannot be fixed, only replaced if too much slack from wear. You will have to pull off the timing chain cover to investigate. If it does need replacing, put the engine at top dead center (tdc) of the compression stroke of number one cylinder-that is zero degrees on the timing scale. before you begin removing anything.

2oo2 cavalier timing chain broke need to know how to fix it??

With a new motor most likley. When a timing chains break pistons tend to collide with valves which can punch holes in the pistons or bend/ break valves. Usually at this point it is more economical to replace the engine than to actually fix it.

yes you must remove the timing chain cover, timing chain, timing chain case, and exhaust manifold, takes about 6 hrs to change, I know I got the same motor and car, good luck and have fun, also you will need to buy a gasket set for the timing chain
