Video card? When I power up, he monitor indicates no signal. I've checked the monitor and the cord with another pc, works fine. Prior to this, the display would blink on and off and get crazy lines through it. Do I need to replace the video card? thx!

No signal going to monitor

1-Check out your video card to make sure it is properly seated in mo bo. 2- If video is from on board chip then add a video card to see if that works - if so your mo bo video is done.

I figure I need a replacement graphics card. The PC worked fine yesterday. Turned it on today and no signal to monitor. Tried both DVI and HDMI with the same result. Monitor is Gateway LP2417.

try pulling the power cord out of the monitor and then wait 30 seconds and pull it back in to monitor . Are you dealing with a graphics card or a motherboard video chip. May have DVI and HDMI plugged into motherboard rather than PCI video card. Check Bios to see if conflict exists between motherboard video chip and PCI video card.

Acer Monitor V193W has no signal

There are 2 basic reasons for the "No Signal" message.
  1. Loose video card inside the machine- if you're machine didn't come with on board video or if you are using an independent video card instead of on board video, the card can unseat at times, either due to movement of the machine or pulling on the video cord
  2. Loose connection between the video cord and/or monitor and/or machine. Unless the plugs on both ends are secure (including tightening both screws to prevent loss of connection), the cord can dislodge just enough to interrupt your connection, causing a "No Signal".
If neither of these is the case, try hooking up a different monitor (if equipped, you can use an HDMI cable to your TV) to see if the "No Signal" message persists. If using a different monitor works, the issue is your Acer Monitor.

CPU ON WITH NO SIGNAL TO MONITOR

Make sure your monitor has power and that the VGA cord or USB cord is properly connected. If your monitor has power (power light is on), disconnect the VGA or USB cord from it, but leave the power on. This will tell you if the monitor is working as it shold display a message like self check or no signal detected and then proceed to display a screen saver. If not then I'd suspect your monitor. If the monitor is ok, then try a different cable between your computer and the monitor. If that fails, then your video card may be defective.

Monitor not connecting to tower. it is plug in to the tower. but shows that it is not connected.

three things can be the issue here:

1. No signal from the tower (VIDEO CARD)
2. Bad cable or bent pin on the d-sub 9-15 pin vga connector.
3. Bad signal board inside the monitor itself.

Things to try:

1. another computer.
2. check the signal cable for bent pins.
3. check the video card in the tower.

Before you "think its a bad monitor" you always want to assume the computer first as computers are 9 times out of 10 why the monitor is not coming on such as BIOS errors, Bad video card, bad power supply etc etc.

Worked fine now no display

one of few possibilities, either no input form video card (possible bad video card), or loose video cord. or on flat video cards, you can choose from the menu to use digital signal or analog signal, if you have chosen what u do not have , u might have gotten that result.
