my son tryed opening my bb 8310 when it was off, and had a pin number, obviously after the 3rd attempt, the phone displays:jum error 513 reset: can anyone help?

My phone is a BlackBerry 8830 (no camera).

I'd set a password months ago but removed it.

I've also since created a password for the initial screen (for when you start using phone).

Last night, I went to do a backup of my phone (put it in docking station and plugged in usb to start bb program), and it asked for password. I don't know which password the phone recognized for this, but neither worked to open it. After 9 tries, it locked up my phone. It then started to WIPE my phone (I had no idea it was going to do this). I guess that's a security feature so someone stealing your phone doesn't get your data, too.

I ripped out the battery (gasping!) and stopped the "wipe." When I put it back in, I got runtime error (JUM Error 513). It says to reset, and when I click to reset, it does a loop back to that error message.

I'm researching online, then I'm taking my phone to a phone store to see if they can somehow reload the operating system or something and get it back up and running (without losing my data).

My advice -- BACK UP YOUR PHONE DAILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jum error 513

It's actually "JVM Error 513". It means your device has been wiped. You'll need to reinstall your operating system with BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

My blackberry is saying jum error 513 reset, how

Go to the blackberry site and download the blackberry desktop manager. After this must have been downloaded on your computer, please run it and open it.

Connect your blackberry to your computer and initialize the Blackberry Desktop Manager and it would show connected once it is connected to your blackberry. You can click on the menu and go ahead to click on add and remove software to reinstall you device software.

This would resolve your problem.

JUM Error 102 Reset

Sorry to hear that happened. One of the operating files has become corrupt, which sometimes happens with Blackberrys. If you go to and search KB11320 and KB12532 you should be able to fix it yourself. The steps are long and involved or I would type the solution here for you.
