After a day of not being able to turn the TV on, when it finally did power on the picture had heavy, multi color shadows to it, almost layered like a 3-D television might have (but without the 3-D glasses) making it very blurry and causing a headache to watch. Suggestions please - I loved my Hitachi 57 HDTV until yesterday. Thank you.

There are some semiconductors or capacitors that are leaky. Might need thorough check up inside the TV.

The shadow have red or blue in colors mixes?Than ur LCD screeen is damage.If it have a very light shadow,move the tv around to West,East Northwest,Southeast might help.If it have magnetic field.

There is a sub-board in this set that powers the convergence circuit. Often a big Ic shorts, two diodes and finally the main fuse. not something you can fix yourself.

Replace convergence ics.

the most common problem when the tv felt is the shadows all over the screen (maybe the tv didnt show it imm but looks like now is there the problem)
second:there is a circuit in the tv that works when the tv turns on every day. prevents the tv showing shadows on the screen.
the answer is this: if that system that prevents shadowing is working then the CRT is broken and say bye to the TV. But if the expert tech can make sure the D' gauss system is not working and can repair it then you get tv back.

This is failure of convergence out ICs in TV. Qualified TV tech will replace convergence out ICs or board.

Your green gun in our tv is misagligned/out of focus. Your tv uses red, green and blue guns that layer in different shades and mix to create the different colors. Your green is a little off so the colors aren't mixing right which explains the green haze and the shadows. A tv repair man can fix this problem pretty easily and it isnt expenisve.
