N70 Battery Issue

My N70 runs for 3 days in offline mode but as soon as it accesses network the battery goes down in 4-5 hours time without even making a single call.

Is it something to do with the network selection? Will updating version help?

Hello,
Even when you run the mobile in offline mode you might use it for listening to songs or any other applications..So please check if the battery life stands for around two days to around when you choose the network selection..If not then better take you moobile to any Nokia service centre..!..

How to change a n70 to online mode?

IF YOUR N70 IS SHOWING OFFLINE MODE PROBABLY BECAUSE IT DOES NOT READ YOUR SIM CARD OR YOU SELECT YES AT STARTUP. REMOVE YOUR BATTERY AND BRING OUT THE SIM, REINSERT PROPERLY AND STARTUP YOUR PHONE, THERE SHOULD BE A MESSAGE ON STARTUP " DO YOU WANT TO STARTUP PHONE IN OFFLINE MODE?" PRESS NO, (LEFT UPPER KEY) PHONE SHOULD STARUP ONLINE OTHERWISE YOUR SIM CARD IS NOT BEEN READ.

Battery in my N70 runs down very very quickly, sometimes after one or two cals. I have replaced the battery but this has not made a difference.

How much are you using the phone for music, calls, browsing etc? Are you streaming from any websites?
Leaving wifi switched on or looking for access points will drain the battery. Have a good look through the phones settings. Also if you are in a weak 3G signal area this will drain the battery very fast as the phone is constantly switching between networks.

The thing to watch for 3G is if the icon keeps disappearing. This means it is switching back to standard GSM. Also if the signal is constantly low (one or two bars signal strength) and it says 3G this will also cause it to use more power.
Also check:
Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Wireless Lan > Show WLAN availability - Never

It's worth checking the log too.
Menu > Tools > Log, then press right. If you see a lot of WLAN entries listed at times when you weren't using WLAN let me know.

Another thing to check is if you are using a case make sure no buttons are constantly pushed in. Also make sure you close your camera's lens cover when not in use.

Other drains of power are screen savers with long time outs and listening to music for a few hours.
Some cases with strong magnetic clasps can cause problems as well.

Goto Wlan in Settings -> Options -> Advanced options

It will prompt you to that it's not recomended .. ignore it.

Change automatic config to manual.

The default tx power for the wifi chipset is a whopping 100mw! (For reference most cheap home wifi access points are about 25-50mw, and the lan card in your laptop is ~28mw)

Setting it to 10mw is going to be sufficent if your within 100 metres of your AP. Lower even if you have a strong Wifi network whever you use your phone's wlan function.

This buys me another couple of hours of standyby time a day (At most I can get maybe 10hours). with only GSM mode on.

you could also download nokia energy profiler

this reads your phones battery usage

best thing to do with it is install it close all applications while you sleep leave phone on and open nokia energy profiler

leave it running while you sleep

when you wake look at the graph it has made and see if there are power spikes ''surges'' or wether there is a nominal flat rating if your asleep and the screen saver is on stanby etc it should pretty much be a flat reading

if you have wifi connecting or another app doing something you will see a power surge...

Battery is discharged very early even without use

Hello Sunil,

Knowing your phone's behavior, Its not usual that the battery if fully charged, will drain within the day, especially that you said even if it is not being used. I would highly advice that you avail the warranty of this phone since you have just purchased that unit. Do not rely on Nokia's customer service online. Go to the store where you made the purchase and avail the warranty. They should change the battery pack.

Hi! My name is Steve ,and i want you know if its normaly to keep my battery working just 2 days,after then i must recharging

Hi Steve,

Well, it depends on the type of phone as to why your device is only lasting 2 days of battery power.

Your phone, the Nokia N70 is rated to last 3.5 hours of talk time, or 11 days of standby time, meaning if you are not using the phone that's how long the battery will last when the phone is on but the screen is off and you have minimal apps running on your phone.

Which means that you must be using your phone for more than just calling. For most people, they can barely get 2 days of battery real life on this phone, especially if you are a power user.

It is a color screen phone and that is one of the reasons why it uses up battery so much. The other reason is because it is connected to the internet as well.. that draws a lot of battery over just a regular flip phone. Nowadays, people using a smartphone can only get a day's worth of battery life out of their battery. Although, some smartphones can last 2-3 days or longer depending on battery size, how its software regulates drawing/using battery, and the technology inside the phone. The Nokia N70 has a 970 mAh battery compared to the new smartphones with as much as 3000 mAh batteries.

Not detec signal

Hello am virginia I will try my best to assist you with your issue.

Try this:

1.- Try your SIM with a different Mobile (Just to check whether the SIM is working well.) If your card won't work, your provider may replaice it, for FREE.

Have you try this already?
1.- switching off your N70,
2.- removed Battery,
3.- taking off the SIM, and replacing it again
4.- and restarting it.

If noting works may be because a virus as well if you thumb drive was infected with a virus. I hope this not the case.

Was this helpful?

Phon is turn on for few hours only

I guess the problem might have occuerd because you must have left your mobile aside without removing the battery for quite sometime... try recharging your mob for about 4-5 hrs... even if the problem prevails then I think that you need to go for a new battery..

N 72 network prablem

Could be an intermittent provider issue, not sure. You could be selecting somebody else's tower that your provider has banned.

I tend to blame phone's antenna or an amplifier (if it has such). I have had exactly same happened to me two weeks ago with AT&T - "no access" on manual mode, unstable, weak, come-and-go connection. What I did was:
1. removed battery and SIM from the phone and kept it this way for maybe four hours
2. put those back in, did NOT turn the phone on.
3. completely charged the battery, i.e. once indicator says "battery is charged" I would unplug and plug back the AC cord - it will begin another incremental re-charge, at I would keep doing it for at least another hour.
4. turned the phone on - strong connection.
You wanna try this?

Very serious problem

Re-formatting your phone too often is not recommended.
If you download, Nokia PC Suite v6.85.14.1 and update the phone software it will probably solve the problem. The processor on the Nokia N70 isn't very fast so when using applications, give it time to operate. If you decide to do an update, first check that there is one available for your phone. Start by going to Nokia of your country. This is the UK site:
http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905 For Nokia PC Suite.
http://europe.nokia.com/link?cid=PLAIN_TEXT_14905 For update.
READ ON:
WARNING
When updating software on Mobs, be sure to:
HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY INSERTED;
PUT IT ON GENERAL PROFILE;
TURN OFF YOUR PIN NUMBER;
CONNECT YOUR CHARGER TO YOUR MOB AND SWITCH IT ON;
DO NOT ----- DO NOT ---- TOUCH YOUR PHONE WHILE THE UPDATE IS GOING ON;
THIS CAN TAKE 30 MINUTES OR MORE.
And obviously don't unplug the phone from the PC.
Be patient, you may have to do a restart or two on your mob afterwards. Even remove the battery to get it going again (not recommended). But give it plenty of time.
--------------------------------------
It is also wise not to use your PC while updating software, just in case the PC freezes.
If the PC freezes during an update, you're up the creek without a paddle...

I did an update on a Sony Eric 810i it took nearly two hours.
--------------------------------------
More... Your phone turns itself on and off, sometimes more than once while updating software, you should leave it well alone during the update.
