My phone will not charge once it dies, but when it is "alive" it will charge fine. i usually switch my battery with my mom's phone, so mine will charge, hers doesn't work anymore so i don't have a phone. does anyone know how to make it charge while it's dead?

What you are describing is that there is an issue with the USB charging port on your V3i. Different pins are used when charging via the wall as opposed to via a USB computer port. It really is quite common with the V3i, you can search on the internet to get your port repaired. If you cannot find anyone, feel free to ontact me, outlet3g in the repair directory.
Yes it can be solved first take out and then put battery back if work its grate in other way you may loose what you have on it because it may need reflash (reprogram) Lots of tools are in the internet one of them p2k easy tool, Have some at home and can provide to you (upload it to any server). Try to turn on using this key *#on on meens power on those three key must be pressed togather if black screen appears with notification "connect usb to program" or something like you phone is alive and need reprogram if nothing heppens it has hardware problem and need to be repared. Note that if it is dscharged it dont charges and programing need fully charged battery, so you must recharge it any other ways.
Stuck in a bootloader mode ,the V3i won't charge. Get hold of another v3i nad replace to charge own battery . after that place this charged bty in your stuck v3i and reflash with a MP that works (the last one u tried probably won't get loaded so get a fresh one)
as i think that charger was not compatible to your phone so when you tried charging it the battery is dead bcoz of excess voltage than it normally bears with the compatible charger of ur phone ... so this excess voltage has made the battery to be short circuited due to this may be the charging ic or the capacitor is gone ... so i suggest you to take the cell to the near by technician and just have a check...
the only problem with all motorola phones is that it only charges with the charger with the desired voltage ... if the voltage of the charger is low then it will not show any response(i mean it will not charge but it will not cause any thing to battery as it is of less voltage than the desired voltage ) so i think the charger you buyed provides more than the desired voltage so the battery is dead .....
Chances are that your battery is malfunctioning or dying. Try your battery in another phone or another battery in your phone to identify the problem. If another battery works fine in your phone, then the problem is with the battery. If your battery works fine in another phone, then the problem may lie in the phone. Good luck!
