Question about Computers & Internet
If you are having that problem I would recommend you put it into a Mac computer and do it from there using the DISK UTILITY and if you dont have or dont know anyone with a mac then you can goto START, Right Click on My computer and scroll down to MANAGE. From there you want to select DISK MANAGEMENT and maximize this windows and while having the hard drive plugged in you should be it there if its with a black shaded bar then its not FORMATED and windows cant read it and you will have to right click on it and Format it. If you are still unable to do it I would suggest another computer or a friends and you should be able to do it then. Hope my answer gets you closer to a solution. Please Help rate me if I helped you out or not I am new but a very good tech.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Tips for a great answer:

USB drives can be write-protected by modifying the
StoreageDevicePolicies Registry key and WriteProtect Registry value.
click Start>run>regedit to open Registry Editor. and press control+F to open the find dialogue box and type "usb device" or "driverdesc" to open usb mass storage device or type "usb mass storage device" in the search windows. And right click on it and delete. This will set the policy value to 0. then insert your usb device. It will work fine.
# Remember: do not delete any unknow files in the registry as this will make some programes not work as usual.
If you are running a Windows XP OS then you might be able to:
- click start right click on my computer select open
- Right click the icon of your Flash Drive (It should be F:/ or something)
- Click Properties in the menu that comes up
- Click the Sharing tab
- Click permissions
- And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.
hope this helps
