My Philips Energy Star T.V. Model No. 32PT6441/37, Serial No. YA1A0521806249, has stopped working along w/the remote control that came w/it when purchased. An(F)appears in the top right corner of the t.v. I learned this means that the t.v. is in a factory mode. 1. How do you get the t.v. out of this mode? 2. Why doesn't the remote control work any longer on the t.v.? 3. How do I repair all this? I purchased another remote control, a "Universal", from Wal-Mart. It didn't work either. Couldn't get it set w/a code to work w/t.v.

Please give me some solution to these problems. I purchased this FixYa for $9.99 tonight. Put the purchase on Pay Pal. I still haven't got my problem resolved. I found, then downloaded the manual for the model t.v. but, no info. on the(F)"factory mode" problem.

Also, Ever since I've owned this t.v.,it turns itself back on after I turn it off. 4. What is causing this?
Please reply ASAP, by e-mail or by phone.

    Thank you,

P.S. How do you use this FixYa Program. I got a reply from the above message. He was telling me to go to the FixYa Program, that it's the best online for problem solutions. O.K. I've done this and now I'm trying to get my whole message to one of these repairman, showing up in the top right corner of this program. I don't know if anyone is or has received my posted message or not. I'm totally confused.

To Mastersaintx, When I said the remote control don't work any more, I mean, it doesn't turn the the t.v. on or off, don't change the channels, doesn't do anything to the t.v. It's just like the remote control has dead batteries in it, but, I've put 2 sets of new batteries it the RC and it still doesn't control the t.v. at all. That's what I meant by that statement.

Also, on the Universal control. I tried to code in the codes on the manual that come with it, but, nothing either. Just like the original RC that came w/the t.v. when purchased back in 2006.

I appologize for the last comment I made about not being able to get in touch with any repairman, but every time I clicked on the My Profile, it showed, "not available". I was getting very upset and finally, I tried it the 4th. time and your solution come up. Thank God.

I will try this and if it doesn't work. I'll try again.

    Thank you, bessylou4@yahoo.com member of FixYa.com (I guess!!!! )

To Mastersaintx, I don't have an A 24 on my RC. I pressed 2 and 4, turned it off, unplugged it for 10 seconds, then, turned it back on and the F is still on the top right corner of screen. On the Universal RC, it has an ABC button, so, I pressed it then, 2 & 4, turned it off, unplugged it, counted 10 seconds, plugged it back up, then turned it back on and it's still in factory mode.

To Mastersaintx, I don't have an A24 on my RC, So, I pressed 2&4 then did everything you said to the letter and nothing, the F is still on the screen. The Universal RC has an ABC button, so, I pressed it then 2 then 4 did everything again like u said and it's still in factory mode.
Where do you come up with this A24 at?

If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:

To disable the Demo mode, perform the following:

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Simultaneously hold down the Vol+ and Vol- buttons on the front of the TV. Do not use the remote control.
    3. Hold for about 6 seconds
    4. Certain model TVs may turn off, others will not. But in either case, the Demo mode should be disabled.

Hi,

The "F" as you describe as factory mode is actually the Service Mode. You can exit this mode by pressing on the power button to turn unit off. Which brings to mind, how did it enter the service mode in the first place which requires a 7 button sequence.

If the above is not corrective, pls try a hard reset, unplug the unit from the mains. Worst case scenario would be a DIY (do-it-yourself) on the logic circuitry or seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

On your remote control you have to select A24 then turn off the TV. Unplug it for 10 seconds then it should be fine.

When you say your remote control does not work may I ask what you mean by this? When you press anything on the remote, nothing happens on screen any longer?

As for the universal remote you can look at its manual and look for the code for Philips then input it on the universal remote so that it will work with your TV then you can use the A24 option to exit out of factory mode.

I have an old JVC TH-p7 home theater system. My remote control stopped working. I have an Philips universal remote control, but I can't find the code needed the TH-P7

If you cannot get the Philips to work you could always look to purchase another JVC remote that is compatible with the TH-P7. I believe that the remote model# is JVC RM-STHP7U. You can find the replacement remote by using the remote control search engine below. Here are the search results for the JVC RM-STHP7U:

Sky remote codes for television model 42PF9631D/10

Hi

The correct code (or whether there is a code at all) depends on which version of the Sky remote you are using. The version number of the remote can be found on a sticker inside the battery compartment. If you have "RC1600/00" "Rev 4" or "Rev 6" on the sticker, then it's unlikely that it will work with your TV, but please read on as this isn't always true.

If you have a "Rev 8" remote then it's more likely to work with your TV, however, according to Sky, you will need to buy the new "Rev 9" Sky remote:

http://www.thedigiboxshop.com/sky-hd-remotes-sky-hd-remote.html

If buying one, be sure to check the button for the "Rev 9" version ( £0.85).

The actual code for your TV model is: 0718

I suggest you try the above code regardless of which version of Sky remote you have as Sky's information is not always accurate. You can also try these generic codes for Philips TVs:

0584, 0266, 0065, 0749, 1679, 0199, 0679

Again, try these with whichever version of the Sky remote you are using. There is a good chance that one of them will operate the volume and power functions on your TV. If none of the above codes work, then you will probably need to buy a Rev 9 remote.

Hope this helps. Please post back if you need further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric

Need instruction book

I was unable to locate your specific model using the information you provided however here is a link to the Philips website.
http://www.support.philips.com/support/html/index_us_en.html
They have a diagram to identify exactly which numbers they need to identify the appropriate manual. From there it should be a simple download to get the information you need.

I hope this helps, good luck!

PROBLEMS AS DESCRIPTION BELOW

Ajkill, a FixYa.com repairman, was the one who e-mailed my solution. He told me to go to the top buttons of the tv, the Volume (-) & Channel (-) buttons and press them simultaneous. I did this, not really knowing what to expect. I then got a menu. I scrolled down and across to select the tv setup I wanted, then the factory mode finally disappeared. The tv then started working with my remote control again. Thanks to Ajkill and the Good Lord.

P.S. I want to edit the sentence above, in green, where its stating: "It's always turned back on when turned off". I don't remember typing this. I meant to say there, that the tv turns itself back on, some times, when I turn it off. If anyone out has a solution fix for this, then, please let me know.
Thank you,
