I have tried every thing and still it says "Limited Service" - My Sim-Card works fine on other mobiles..
Have also tried with other sim-cards and still it says "limited Service"
What can i do to fix the problem?

If the Phone says Sim rejected means it locked to Network,You need to Unlock it,you can get the unlock code from the site Unlocking4u.com/unlock-your-phone/rs6wp2/ and Unlock it from Network Lock,Then You can use any GSM Network Sim card in NOKIA 1280.

please check your cell phone if open line so it can be able to recognized the sim card if it is open line try to remove the sim card and scratch it with pencil eraser

This message comes when there is no SIM card in the instrument or the instrument is unable to read the SIM card.
Check if the SIM card is there in your mobile or not, if it is there then remove it and insert it again properly.

alot of guys that sell "unlocked " phones sell a regular network-specific phone but they'll include a universal unlock wafer-thin sim that fits in your phone between your sim card and the phone contacts. Look in the box ..if you still got it look for a plastic sd card sized container and see if there's one with you phone... if not you can get one on ebay for about ten bucks.. let me know what happens... Are you using the same cell provider? Example: Cingular phone and Cingular Sim Card. Because you can't use say a T-Mobile phone and Cingular Sim Card. Don't really know a solution just thought maybe this might help.
