Windows boot manager (the one that launches it) is corrupted or totally missing. You should try to fix that by following this:

Bootmgr is missing.

Sorry to say this but you will need to do a complete restore from DVD of your operating system. Vista is not as forgiving as XP where you can rebuild the boot sector - If you have your vista recovery disc's do a complete recovery >> sorry - from now on always do backups of data you need to keep weekly.

BOOTMGR is missing

If XP, boot the XP CD, go to recovery console (R at first prompt) Type the command BOOTCFG /REBUILD

Missing bootmgr

something has removed the bootmanager from your harddrive your going to need the windows cd, you can try useing the repair console to restore the bootloader, also you can try a repair install or a fresh windows install.
