There is not an external video card on the machine, nor is there any type of card available, just the one on the motherboard. On these models the video card is built into the board. It is replaceable, but requires a fairly good degree of technical knowledge and skill in order to change it. I realize this probably isn't what you want to hear, but there isn't a simple fix to it, sorry. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Either your video card is bad or you might have some bad memory. Does the video ever post anything on the screen when you press the power button to start the computer?

It really sounds like a memory problem.
Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

This absolutely could be the ribbon cable connecting your screen to your motherboard. If you know how to check this, it would be worth trying before spending $150+ on an LCD. Any way you look at it, this is definitely a hardware issue. Just hope it's not the motherboard's onboard video card. Here is a modified answer I gave to a question similar to your issue:
If you turn on your laptop and the display is bad, your issue is with either the LCD screen or the motherboard (since the video card is built-in the motherboard). This will be easy to diagnose.
1.) Plug an external monitor (one which you know works) into the VGA port of your laptop.
2.) Turn on the laptop.
3.) Hold down the FN key (lower-left corner of the keyboard) and press the "CRT/LCD" key (it will be located on the number keys or F1-F12. You do this to tell the laptop that it needs to send the video signal to the external monitor instead of its built-in LCD screen.
If the display is good on the external monitor, then the issue is with the laptop's LCD screen (about $200 for the part plus labor to install). If the display is still messed up on the external monitor, then your problem is with the motherboard ($300-$500 for the part plus a lot in labor cost for installation).

Let me know if this helps you!

One long beep and two short beeps. the red light flash on the motherboard

Good day.
Commonly, 1 long and 2 short beeps refers to a defective display card.
In a case that you have an external video card (separate from your motherboard - not built-in), turn-off the pc then remove the display card. clean the contact points with a pencil eraser, re-install the card then power-on again. If you received the same beep codes, then there is a need to buy a new video card.
In a case where your video is built-in to your board, to hard, but you need to buy a new board or disable the video adapter in your BIOS and install an external display card.

Just let me know if you need some more help.
Good luck.

Hi there,

Operating system have built in drivers that can be used when installing external harware line video card. The problem with this is that sometimes new drivers are released for video cards to fix bugs. So, I suggest you install the latest driver of you video card. If you don't have, just google it you can definite get it.

Graphic card

A graphic card or graphic adapter is always present on all computer.

When the computer does not have an external graphic card, the video adapter is integrated on motherboard.

By studing multimedia you may need to use software like macromedia director, or 3D modelling software that use a lot of video ram.

If your computer has an internal video adapter with at least 64MB of video RAM, then you can try using the current video adapter, if it is less, then better buying an AGP graphic card.

Here is some choice.

Hp pavilion ze5500 display monitor still doesn't work

IT could be a motherboard problem with the function key that controls the switching of the video infomation between the LCD screen and the external video connector.
It could be the function key circuitry on the motherboard that controls the back lighting levels on the LCD.

Upgrading graphics card onto gx280 motherboard

You need to find a "PCI Express" video card. Your Motherboard does not have an AGP slot. There are lots of them to choose from. Better to pay more now and get more memory on the video card than to regret the purchase and buy another one. IMHO
