Question about Samsung HL-R5678W 56" Television

Samsung HLS 5679W LED DLP TV Horizontal white lines jagged across screen.

I have a Samsung HLS 5679W LED DLP 56" screen tv we purchased about seven months ago online that has just developed white lines across the screen in a jagged form. Portions of the picture are also broken up and duplicated across the screen. Here's an image of what the picture looks like. I took it with my cell phone but it looks actual.
Please help! Thanks. Dave

TV plays fine for about 45 minutes, then the picture begins to go haywire. It looks like a bad video card issue if it was a PC, with the picture first with snow, then with jagged lines, then with dividing into quadrants and freezing with pink separator bands. Turning the TV off and waiting a few minutes solves the problem, only to have it start all over again within another 30 minutes.

What you are sseing is a convergence problem within the light engine of the set. This is not repairable in teh field other than replacing the light engine part. Since this unit is less than one year old, it should be covered under warranty. From the looks of it, one of the LCD panels has shifted internally. Call for warranty service and indicate that the light engine has a problem. With luck, the service company will show up with the part in hand. Replacement should not take more than an hour or so.

Not good. You may have a tab failure. A repair shop may be able to diagnose and repair this, but most likely the lcd panel is broken. The panel is the most expensive part of flat tv's. A new panel will cost more than a used tv.

I looked up how to fix red horizontal lines on a Philips flat-screen tv. It turns out it needed the Y buffer upper replaced. I am not sure if this problem would be similar but it might help. I am also searching how to fix a fuzzy screen on a DLP tv. Hope you find what you need.

SAmsung has two white lines across screen with no picture

If the 2 white lines are in the centre of the screen it sounds like you have a fault called 'field collapse' . The 'x' or horizontal circuit on the tv deflects the beam across the screen which in your case is ok because the line runs across the screen ok. The 'y' or field circuit on the tv deflects the beam down the screen. Without a circuit diagram for your tv i cannot point to individual components.

Select TV input, Press Menu, Select Channel, in menu Antenna=Cable (for you), (then perhaps, Auto Program with Cable or Air+Cable), tweak Channel List, turn on LNA if needed, shouldn't be.
Somewhere there may be different modulations, some offset the channel a fraction and are important for channels above 13. I'm basing this on my non-cable Samsung HL-T5687.
BTW, I had an HLS until it gave trouble, paid for an upgrade to LED from bulb when I got HLT. Very pleased, until it fails. -Ken
