Cmurray12,

You do not have a bad fan, you have a bad optical disc drive. See my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4160054-replace_color_wheel_in_dlp_projection_tv for the replacement procedure and where to get the parts.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Fan in the freezer of our FF447W Avanti fridge started making a lot of noise. How to fix? Does the motor need to be replaced?

Yes you most likely have a bad bearing in the fan motor, inspect it forest and make sure it is free to rotate, if it is ok replace the motor.

Projector makes lots of noise

Yes, that can solve the problem because there's also a possibility that the lamp is the one that is causing the noise..

Hope that helps........

Clutch fan making lots of noise, always the same, sounds like metallic grinding noise

could be a bad clutch fan(?) -- BUT note that the clutch fan is attached to the water pump and if I was to guess without seeing the vehicle with my own eyes -- I would say that the sound is a water pump bearing that is bad and it is time to replace the water pump.

Hi, I have an HP G60t 200 laptop, and the fan started to make noise, if I tilt it forward the noise decreases and when I tilt it back it seems to get louder, sometimes it actually goes away. I did make...

thanks for showing the 200. G60t-200. they made lots of 60s.
the fan on all PC's need to be cleaned every year
or they all pack up and overheat or make noise.
if the the fan, free of any lint makes noise (not blow sound)but
racket, sounds, the bearing inside are shot.
no fan made lasts for ever,
but longer that the HDD, and batteries, for sure.
but way less the 20-30years or more for CHIPS.
its just a dc brush motor with bearings.
some are AC motors inside,(with 3 phase driver inside and no brushes, fancy) but is of no matter, noise bad is bad fan.
its really that simple.
keep in mind folks in text box can not hear your bad fan.
so answers will be, wrong, 1/2 the time. here.
due to , all work like this is hands on ears on eye on job and lots of experience.
if the blades are free ,of JUNK.
and it makes bad sounds, its bad. simple as that.
except in the cases of its falling out , screws missing , or loose.
like I said I cant see it.

The internal fan is making a lot of noise

The fan may be failing, a lot of noise would probably mean a bearing failure. The only other thing it could possibly be is something that has gotten into the fan, or a bad buildup of hair, dirt and debris that can build up in ventilation grills and the heatsink air intake. Get a few cans of compressed air that you can get at an office supply store. Blow all the grills and ventilation grates out as best you can, including the heatsink grill and the fan intake on the bottom of the case. If the sound continues, it will most likely mean a fan replacement. Below is the link to the service and repair manual.

The fan in modem makes loud noises at times

Modems don't have fans.
I think you mean your fan in the computer makes a loud noise. Some computers have settings where the fan speeds up if you are doing a lot of things--making the computer work harder.
Some fans make noise just before they fail. Depends on the type of noise. If it's a sound that has a lot of rattling in it or maybe a high screeching sound, I'm thinking you'll be needing a new fan. Probably a CPU fan is the culprit. Also, fans on video cards often go bad--so you'll have to open the case and listen to where the sound comes from.

Fan started making noise

I have one of these, and every so often, the fan would start making a loud clicking noise. I discovered that if I shut the fridge off for a while and left the door open to defrost it, it'd work fine again for a while before the noise came back. Apparently, some ice was building up between the metal heat-sink and the fan, causing the fan blades to scrape against the ice/frost build-up and make the "tick, tick tick" noise.
There is no compressor in the Avanti EC15W-2 mini fridge. It uses a simple Peltier junction device to transfer heat from the inside of the fridge to the outside/rear of the unit. So it should never get very loud at all, unless one of the two fans in it is acting up in some way.

Fan makes a lot of noise, then computer suddenly shuts down

Seems to be overheating. When you say the fan makes a lot of noise, do you mean an unusual noise or just that it is on high?
