I was under the impression that I did not have to have the ITouch connected to the CPU. It will search by itself without a hookup. I guess I will have to hookup to my CPU, is this correct. Please more detail on this hookup. Thanks for your help

Does your Computer have a wireless Internet card to talk to the iTouch with? Or is it connected to a wireless router to do the same?

If not, the iTouch can't share the connection.

Hope that helps.

First put security on the router that you are using. Then see if other computers are able to connect to it. If it can already, turn off and on the IPOD touch then search for a network. Once you see the network Select it to connect then it should as for the security key. As for the wireless security on your router make sure that you are using only WEP or WPA the IPOD touch does not support WPA2 yet.

You do not need to have it hooked up to the computer. All you need to do is search the available wireless networks using its utility.

Question though: Do you have a wireless router?

    You have 2 options

    1. Internet to Router to computer

    to ITOUCH

    2. Computer via wireless adapter to the ITOUCH

Id best repost since the formatting changed

    1. Internet to Router to computer
    Internet to Router to ITOUCH

Computer can now network with the ITOUCH

    2. Computer via wireless adapter to the ITOUCH

Once you set an IP to both of them they should be able to talk

How do i get my wep key for my itouch

The touch doesnt have a "key" this is the key from the Wi-fi spot you are trying to connect to.
You will need the person that owns that wi-fi to provide that to you. The itouch simply connects to the wi-fi and uses it for internet.
Hope this helps.

Wi-fi connection does not work

go to settings and wifi...look for your network and tap on it.
Join your network and if it is secure it is asking for the WEP key which is on the label of the router.
Enter that kep and it should join.
if it is truely an unsecure wifi you should be able to get right on by joining it.

You may be seeing full signal but it may be your neighbors or next door

Good Luck

How to connect wi fi ipodtouch 16 gb?

go to Settings and then General
you will see the wifi network there.
It sounds like your connecting to a secure network and possible not being given an option to enter the network key.
Enter your network key and see if you get into the wifi

When your itouch detects a wireless network it should automatically attempt to connect., check your settings to make sure it is free to connect.

HELP

All you should have to do is open Wi-Fi in system preferences. From there, touch the little blue circle next to the Wi-Fi network you're signed. Then, just hit "Renew Lease" at the bottom of the screen.
If that doesn't do it, completely turn your modem, Wi-Fi router and iTouch off. After 5 full minutes, turn on the modem, another 2 minutes later, turn on the Wi-Fi router, yet another minute at least, turn on your iTouch.
If that still doesn't work or you have any questions, feel free to call me.

Apple ipod itouch connection to wireless internet

don't let the iTouch connect to the wi-fi network it detected automatically - try setting up a new wi-fi network from scratch.
the setup screens will ask for network name (the SSID) the security protocol (probably WPA-PSK if you are having all this trouble) and the password (pre shared key)

should be all you need - good luck
