It is very possible that the LCD is damaged. If the screen was pressed hard enough it can cause the components to become damaged. Repairing monitors is a lot more expensive then buying a new one unfortunately. You probably could get a 22inch monitor for under $180.

There isn't much you can do about that. You may want to start looking for a new monitor.

The problem is with the Panel which is defective. Samsung sometimes will have a bad run of Panels. Contact 1-800-Samsung and ask for the Executive Customer Relations Group and explain the problem. You will need all of your documentation as they will ask for it. You might consider asking for a refund or a different Model replacment.

if you are watching cable or satelite, you need to change the screen format output from the source to make sure it matches with the TV

It's seems your backlight lamp is burnt out... if you are still under warranty... call the mfg. up and get a replacement lamp.

This is a problem with the LCD panel. If the tv is out of warranty, I would call Samsung and see if they will pay for the panel and you pay for the labor. The panel is not cost effective to repair. If Samsung will not do anything you will need to buy a new tv.
