Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

PS3 I have a brand new PS3 that when I connected it works fine but it makes a very loud clicking noise I mean a lound annoying noise from the back of it. It still plays the games fine and everything works but that noise is so loud. Any answers to why it is doing that would be great thank you.

It is your outake fans. most likely bearings or something is lodged close to one and doing the old popsicle stick in the spokes trick to you.

PS3 WHEN CONSOLE SWITCHED ON IT BEEPS THEN TURNS OFF AND FLASHES RED

My guess is its going to die soon. I would back up most of your stuff on a hard drive if possible. If it gets that far. I had this happen to my 40GB PS3 about a year ago. It turned on for 5 minutes then off. Soon after that it didn't turn on. And it was making really loud fan noises.
What are the specs of your PS3 and was it making loud fan noises before? Consider buying a new PS3 slim?
A quick guess that i just thought is try doing the fan test before turning it on. Turn Off PS3 completely (switch in back) Hold eject button and Turn on switch.

NOTE: This is dangerous and can harm the PS3.

Good Luck

Disk drive is making a loud noise, and is no longer reading the disc. just makes a loud clicking noise when injecting or ejecting the disc.

PS3 blu-ray drives are pretty problematic. The best solution is to send your ps3 back (without opening it and trying to fix it yourself (voids the warranty)) to sony. Your drive sounds broken, happened to me once before, sent it back, and now its like brand new (took a bit for them to get it back to me though)

Hello,

If this solution am providing you now did not solve the problem, i will advice you format or get a new drive.

Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on with switch. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps. Your ps3 should automatically reset.

Take care.

60GB PS3 Making High Pitch Noise

sounds like a leaking capacitor to me you will need to have it looked at. and do it before the cap fails all together as it will be harder to find the downed cap afterwards.

Ps3 loud fan noise

Don't do anything your fan is just fine it's just running faster to keep it cool when you hear a clicking sound at high speed then you should be worried about it cause your fan is failing and should be replaced

Loud fan noise

i had the same problem once make sure that the ps3 is not on a carpet, or move it to a hard suface and a more ventilated area,, that is probably the best solution since the ps3 requires alot of cooling down.

Ps3 three months old

i beleive it is normal because mine will come on at various times also. it is just cooling down the components inside the casing. if it didnt come on it would eventualy melt together. as for being distracting you aint got yours sounds pumped up enough. but otherwise dont panic....

Wii is toooo loud....

it might do that if you have it in an enclosed space. Do you have it in a place where something is blocking the back of the wii? Because the wii has a fan in the back of it and will make a loud roaring sound because of the back being blocked. Either that or that means the wii is overheating. (Just saying)

Pitched noise coming from the fan

When I first got my PS3, It had the annoying high pitched fan sound as well, but went away after a week and has worked fine ever since, no problems at all. I have the 60 gig version, so. Maybe if yours is new you just need to break it in?
