You can share a printer that is connected to a computer with other computers on your network. Please click on this link and follow my instruction to setup a shared printer :-

Error message "check connection" yet the printer works wirelessly.

If printer driver was shared from one of the pc, only the printing function can be used. For scanning functions, all PC should be installed direct to the network/wifi printer. Disable all sharing for this printer for the group.

Does not seem to print xps files.

For sure, you're trying to print a document or text from a client PC in which the print network was not shared. If this was the case you can try these simple 1-2-3 steps:

1. In the server make sure that the printer is shared through network thru the Printer and Fax Config in the Start Menu
> Select Printer
> Properties
> Sharing
> Share this printer (Printer name ex.: Brother...)
> OK

2. In the client PC make sure that the printer is joined through the network thru the Printer and Fax Config in the Start Menu
> Add A Printer
> A Network Printer
> Connect to the Printer (ex.: \\server\Brother...) Automatic Detection...
> Next.....
> OK

3. Ready to print any files....

I have a Brother MFC-7340. It says that it can print wirelessly, but I don't know how to make it discoverable, if that's possible. It also doesn't have an ethernet port, so I can't connect to network....

this is the support site for that printer http://www.brother-usa.com/support/default.aspx?PGID=5&R3ModelID=mfc7340 if you look at the quick start manual here http://www.brother-usa.com/support/default.aspx?PGID=5&R3ModelID=mfc7340 to have the network adapter the model number needs to have an "N" as part of the model 7340N
otherwise you will have to use USB connected to a PC - and the PC on to share on the network

HOW DO I CONNECT MY BROTHER MFC-8860 PRINTER TO ANOTHER PC

You must share the present printer in order for the other PC to connect to it, to enabe printer sharing, go to your printers properties by right clicking on it and go to sharing and tick on Share this printer, now on the other PC go to run and type double back slash (\\) and type the IP address of the PC where your printer is connected (example: \\192.168.0.1) then you must see the shared printer, double click on it and your all set. Hope this helps.

Wireless connection!

Yes. Keep it plugged in to your desktop.
Do you have your home network configured? That has to be done first, between your desktop and laptop, etc., then under the printer's properties select "sharing", and share the printer from your Desktop.
Then to access the printer on your laptop, go to "add printers" Select "network printer", then select "browse", then browse your network for the "shared printer", and select it.
You will only be able to print through it if your PC is turned on.

I want to put a printer online

Well the most simplest way would be to install the printer to the main computer, possibly the one that can stay on all the time, if needed. At any rate, once you normally connect the printer to the PC, you will need to share it. You can do this by going into PRINTERS AND FAXES, (assuming you're using winxp) right click on the printer, and left click on SHARING, or that you would like to share this printer. Once it's shared, you should be able to see it on the network on your other PC by going into START, PRINTERS AND FAXES, and in the left hand pane select add a printer. A dialog box will appear click NEXT and then you want to select "A NETWORK PRINTER, OR PRINTER ATTACHED TO ANOTHER COMPUTER" (again this is assuming you're using winxp) If you need further input reach me at [email protected]

I can't get the printer to share with my laptop

MFc 7420 is not the network printer, the printer either need to set up from one PC then share to another PC ONLY.
Or if you have server then you can share this printer, otherwise impossible.
