No Picture My uncle has one of these TVs. Yesterday morning, a bunch of colors flashed on the screen and now there is no picture at all. The power light comes on and sound works, but no picture ever shows up. Any ideas? Thanks, Tim

Rear projection TVs are dinosaurs. Sell it if you can get anybody to buy it and get an HDtv they're pretty cheap now not to mention thinner, lighter and better for your eyes. Imagine the space you'll save if you mount it on the wall and the cost of electricity. Not trying to be a jerk but it's time to move into the 21st century. The picture is waaaaay better.

The video controller adjustment section for color has defaulted to black and white because the circuit board may have been affected by a power surge or power outage. It may be that the Video board needs replacing.

My tv screen when on turns yellow then after a while it will switch back to normal colors what can be wrong with it....

Televisions covered: all Projection with yellow picture, but not Projection TVs with a yellowish tint surrounding objects in a nearly normal picture.

Yellow = red + green
normal picture = red + blue + green (RGB). See illustration.

Fig. 1 Additive color mixing in an RGB monitor, or RGB Projection TV.

The circuitry powering your blue output, or the blue light engine itself is starting to fail.

Operating Theory:

The lamp module shines a bright light into the optical unit; there are a series of lens and baffles, and at the top of the light engine, a lens puts the picture into a mirror which is reflected onto the screen; All video and color is processed thru the light engine. Blue most commonly fails first, leaving a yellow picture.

You may have not reset the lamp counter after replacing the physical lamp. To do this 1. Press the “POWER” button so that the projector projects the picture on the wall (projection screen)
2. Press the “MENU” button to show the “MAIN MENU”
Use buttons “F” or “G” and select “OPTION”
3. Confirm this by pressing “ENTER” so that “OPTION” is shown
Using buttons “5 / 6”, select “LAMP RUNTIME” (lamp operation counter)
4. Select and press the “ENTER” button for at least 3 seconds
5. The “LAMP RUNTIME” (lamp operation counter) will change to “TIME RESET[POWER OFF]”
6. Turn the device off by pressing “POWER” and unplug the power cord

Picture green with color off mo.av-56p575 jvc

That is a common symptom in projection TVs that use tubes or "color guns" As the set ages the emission in the picture tubes (there are three) begins to slowly fade.

This is unfortunately a normal thing for those older projection sets. A set of tubes will last anywhere from 20,000 to 40,000 hours of operation then they are simply worn out. They can be replaced but I don't recommend it due to the age and technology version of your set. The newer type big screens use a different principle. They either are LCD or Plasma these days. The advantage of the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is they are very low in power consumption. The disadvantage is that you can never get a true black, only close. On the other hand the Plasma TVs are more consumptive of power but will give a very sharp image with true black levels. The choice is up to you but I suggest you replace your older television.

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

Pull off the back pressboard. At the bottom left hand corner is the power cord that attaches to the power supply board. There is a white plug that attaches directly to the power cord. With the TV power off, pull this white plug up to disconnect. Then push it back in. Then plug your TV back in and press the power button on the front of the TV. I just did this and it is working fine.
