Problems with syncing music to player( computer doesn't recognize it's hooked up)

When I plug the player in to put music on it the computer says "connect device" and a box pops up saying that the "device is not recognized by Windows" or that it has "malfunctioned". My MP3 player screen changes frequently and abruptly when it's plugged in to the USB port and I haven't been able to sync any music to it although it's been plugged in for 4 or 5 hours. I have no idea what is wrong or even what to do, it's very frustrating. Please help me. Thank you. :)

What i would recommend you to do is to uninstall the device and reinstall it back...to uninstall it...assuming that you are running windows xp...click on start, right click on my computer and go to properties..you should have your system properties open then click under hardware then device manager...look for the sansa device..it usually located under portable device..if its not showing there i would recommend you to look for under disk drives and see if its there..right click on the device and click on uninstall...after you unintall it unplug your device from the computer....Then follow this link below to download the porting kit...http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A2E73160-E862-4F19-BB26-C0CAFE798955&displaylang=en .Then check the mode of yuor device to make sure it sunder MTP not msc...To check the mode go under menu, settings and choose usb mode...After you check the mode open up your windows media player click on tools, options and click under privacy...clear the history and caches...after you finish you can plug the device on the back of the computer not the front then windows should recongnize it and it should work properly..if that doesnt solve the problems upgrade your windows media player to 11 even though you have done that already..and try to reconnect your device..make sure you have it on the back of your computer...

Should you have any questions..let me know..
P.S.Please rate accordingly...
Thank You

Apple iPod Video 30 GB

Hi,
iPods always say 'do not disconnect' when you connect it to the computer. That is what they are supposed to do. iTunes should open a short time after that. If i Tunes doesn 't open, then click on it to open it. You should see your iPod on the left side.

I suspect that you are not using iTunes to put music into your iPod. You cannot 'drag' music into your iPod. ITunes has to put it there.

You should have all of your music in your iTunes library that you want to put into your iPod. You have to use iTunes to put music into your iPod. Actually, this is the easiest way.

Once your music is in iTunes, plug your iPod into the computer. When your iPod appears in iTunes on the left side, click on the music tab and tell iTunes what music and play lists you want to put into your iPod.

Then click sync at the bottom. The iPod will go into sync mode until all of your music is loaded. Then it will say sync completed. You can then click the arrow next to your iPod to release it from iTunes.

When you want to release it from your computer, click on the little green icon at the bottom right of your computer screen. If you don't see it, click the white arrow. Click on the green plug icon and wait until you see safely isconnect mass storage device from the computer. Click on that and wait until you see, 'It is now safe to disconnect your mass storage device from the computer". Disconnect your iPod now.

Hope that helps.

Computer doesn't recognize MP3 player -

I had the same problem, all you have to do is first turn on the Mp3.Then go to settings. Then go down to USB mode. It will probably say, auto detect. But instead scroll down to MSC. If that doesn't work try MTP.

Ilo mp3 player model mp-556

1) Disconnect from computer, turn it off, hold in volume + button and reconnect it to your computer - continue holding volume + until the Found Hardware Wizard comes up.

2)
REFORMAT FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER - Erases Everything: Connect your iLo player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "ILO 2GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything, and give you a fresh start.
