Had the same problem. Instuctions show a different ring (smooth on one side, grooved on the other) they say to keep notches facing up. My ring had grooves on one side and large square notches on the other. Due to the way the ring is tapered, the round notches face down, opposite the instructions . And plate warmer fit better. Short answer: flip the ring over.
Hi, I takes lots of practice to use a charcoal smoker, but don't let that stop you! I go on professional competitions and started out by checking the "Virtual Bullet " website. This site is for the Weber Smokey Mountain cooker but you can get ideas from there. Hank
The cadac smoker cooker is probably the easiest to use. Lift all the inside bits out and put about 3 desert spoons of wood chip for smoking on the big plate at the bottom. Return all the other pieces except the lid. Use the low gill for chicken and bigger pieces of meat and the tall grill for flat pieces of meat and fish. It takes about an hour and a half for a chicken. Hope this helps.
Take the tank back off and open all the valves on the cooker. Close all the valves on the cooker. Put the tank back on the cooker. Open the tank just barely. Light the burners. The valve cannot be turned wide open on the newer grills.
Hi Grace Jones! Sorry this took so long but I just became a member and you've probably already solved the problem - bur here goes. Recipes and operating instructions and replacement parts can be found at www.smokehouseproducts.com. Have fun, they're really easy to use and don't burn the house down! Penny in AK
Generally, black soot stains mean the gas/air mix has too little air. If you have an adjustment for the air mix, open it up a bit. Also (don't laugh)- small spiders love to build cocoons inside these gas/air tubes. That really messes up your flame!
