My HP laptop (pavilion dv9700) will not start up. It was working fine then suddenly shut off while the cord was plugged in. The blue ring still lights up where you plug in the power chord, but nothing else...

Try the following:
  1. Unplug the power cord from the laptop.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
  4. Re-insert the battery.
  5. Plug in the power cord.
  6. Try turning on the computer.

When I press the switch button the power led comes up but nothing shows on the screen, the cpu fan rolls for few few seconds and stops

try to do a power drain.... unplug the power chord... then remove the battery.... while the battery is out... press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.... then put the battery back in and then the power chord.... then try booting it up.... if it works well and good.... if it does not and u see all the lights but not anything on the screen, try with an external monitor just to check if its an issue with the lcd screen.... if its working on a different monitor, u know what to do... take it to a service center....

again if nothing works... dont wait.. take it to a service center

Hp c5280 wont switch on, its been working well when last used this morning.

Disconnect the power chord from the back of the printer. Wait for 40 seconds and connect it back and check if it is warming up or not. If not the press power key for few seconds and see if it turns on or not.

If not then check if the adapter is getting warm or not after it is connected to wall outlet.
If adapter is warming up then try another power chord and check..

If both power supply are getting warmer then problem is with printer hardware and if printer works with another power chord then replace the damaged power chord

Well lets hope nothing fried, What i would recommend to try is to unplug the power chord from the back of the computer and hold in the power button for about 30 Seconds to remove all the power from the board. Then plug the power chord back in and hit the power button and see if the computer starts. Let me know if this works for you. Thanks

Sony Handycam Digital 8: won't accept tape

I was having the exact same problem with my sony handycam. I actually came across this website looking for the answer and noticed many people having the same problem but there was no solution to it.

I just happened to go to the sony website and decided to watch the tutorial on setting the camera back to the factory settings. It actually fixed the problem! I don't know if this will work for everyone or even how long it will work, but I figured it was worth a try. Good luck!
