I don't get sound output from one of the surround speakers. I swapped the cables and the speaker and checked; there's no sound. Tried the speakers 'test' option on the receiver; one of the surround speakers failed the test while the other speakers were ok.

anything that works well is always worth investigating for a repair
it could be a simple fuse for that side amplifier, loose , broken speaker wire
have it checked out and then decide if it is worth repairing

Make sure all the connection is in the right place, from the speaker to the unit .Try to inspect the wiring.take out the wire of the speaker one by one, check it's continuity of the wire that's not break or cut.If all of this you do allready nothing happens, the problem is inside,in the Audio section there be a big IC there.Reheat that the solder of that IC make sure when reheathing cannot be shorted. Then switch on.

Harman kardon just went dead

You may have overloaded it. Let it rest and cool down. Check the resistance on the speaker to make sure it is in spec with your amp.

Make sure someone didn't accidentally mute it or bump the audio in source wiring.

Make sure your speaker choice (A or B or both or none for headphones only) is correct.

AVR 7000 audio/video receiver

Harman kardon amplifire are known for that.specially AVR 7000
but sometimes this comes from poor wiring and using a wire that will not conduct better sound. Remember your wiring is very important.you may think your wiring is currect, better to double check. even if your connection is ok and the wire you are using are not better to produce quality sound you will not get sound from every speaker.

good luck
