Check to see if it will read a memory card. You probably have a bad Controller port. You can order one from Ebay, then install it if you have the original PS2. If you have the slim, you may need a new motherboard.

Are you using a wired or wireless controller? Some after market wired controllers have been known to cause this same effect. The problem is the usb port. What a lot of people don't know, is that it is possible to input anything usb either up, or down. But beware! If you connect something the wrong way, it could fry it, because it is sending power through it. The easy way to tell, is looking at the plug. It should have "DOTS" that tell you up or down. Make sure these dots are facing up when you install into the usb port.

How to Configure an Xbox Controller Fotolia.com"> configure-xbox-controller-800x800.jpg Configure you Xbox controller.

The Xbox 360 utilizes two types of controllers: wired and wireless. Like most operations on a video game console, configuring a controller requires little effort. You can either plug the controller into a port on the Xbox 360, or sync a wireless controller using the console's built-in controls.
Difficulty:Easy Instructions

  1. Wired
    • 1 Connect the controller's cable to the in-line release cord. This cord prevents you from accidentally pulling the Xbox 360 along with your controller during game play.
    • 2 Insert the in-line release cord's USB plug into the USB port on the front of the console.
    • 3 Turn on the console to activate the controller automatically.
    Wireless
    • 1 Insert batteries in your wireless controller, if necessary.
    • 2 Hold down the "Guide" button on the controller.
    • 3 Push the Xbox 360's "Connect" button, located on the front of the console.
    • 4 Push the controller's "Connect" button to sync it with the Xbox 360.

Controller will not connect to game

To connect a controller to Xbox 360 console:
Wired Controller:
1) Simply plug in the controller into one of the three USB ports avaiable on the system. Two of which are on the front of the console( next to the power button, there is a small door, it is marked by two dots on top, open it and you will find the two USB ports, the third USB port is on the back of the system)
Wireless Controller:
1)Press and hold the Xbox guide button until the controller turns on.
2) Make sure that the console is on, then press and release the connect button on the console( the button next to the memory card slots)
3) Press and release the connect button on the Xbox wireless controller, if connected the ring of lights on the controller will stop blinking, one of which will now be constantly lit, The same will occur on the ring of lights on the console itself

PS2 black console does not communicate with controllers

Sounds like you have wireless Controllers. Be sure your batteries are good on the Controller and the controller is turned on, LED should light. Plug the receiver into the controller jack, and it should light up at least one LED. If you have channel number selector, set it to the same number on the controllers, channel selector.

If old wired controllers will work, then you have dud wireless controllers. I know that cheap poor quality wireless controllers exist out there. You may have a dud. I also know that sometimessomething kills the controller ports on the PS2. The only way to know is to hook a wired controller you know works into the port to see if the port is good or bad.

Want to connect non wireless remote controls to console

No this is not true. you can purchase wired controllers for the PS3 usually at a greatly reduced price than the wireless models. Most larger PS3 retailers should have stock of wired control pads so it would pay to do some more ringing around

Hope this has helped

Xbox 360 Premium Console

Hi,
you,ll need a Power supply Unit ( Known as a power Brick )
Usually about £25-£50 )
Also a Video out lead, lead that connects from X-Box to T/V input, either RGB Or H/D. usually £10+
You,ll also need a controller wired or wireless, anywhere between £20+.
I,d suggest your best option is E-Bay.

Mike @ compurepair.

p.s instructions should be downloadable from microsoft xbox site.
