fuse is ok,does not loose power just shuts off, as if power button were
pushed. returns to on pos. upon pushing power button.

not sure, after 3 or 4 cycles of off/on tv stays on for extended
period of 2/3 hrs. then may or maynot fail. as if it needs to warm
    up to stay on.

    1. The main filter capacitor or other filter capacitors in the low voltage
power supply is dried up and this can cause all kinds of regulation problems.

    2. The power supply regulator is defective (or marginal) allowing excessive
voltage on its output and then the X-ray protection circuitry shuts you down.

Samsung DLP has no sound for about 8 minutes when first turned on.

Mine does the same thing. It makes a regular popping sound that does not change in level with the volume control. When the popping starts getting erratic the pixelated sound starts and in a short time the sound straightens out for the rest of the viewing time. However, the next time the cycle repeats itself. Did you find a fix?

My akai dlp tv turns itself off then it flashes

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

TOSHIBA dlp projection, model 42hm66 won't stay on

Could be the power supply. You can check the power from supply with multi-tester or voltmeter. If have a service manual, then I suggest testing the ballast as well

Had a power outage while watching tv. Then 3 blinking lights.

This is an on-going problem with DLP sets. Normally you shut the set off and the cooling fan cools the lamp down and then it shuts off. In your case, of which it's not your fault, however your lamp has taken a major hit by not properly cooling down, in turn, you need to replace your lamp at this time.
I suggest in the future if you have an electrical storm and a chance of a power outage while your watching tv, I would'nt play that model or any other model of a DLP set.

Tv powers off and on after operating for about 1 hour

Same happened to me with my old panasonic set. It was a dry-joint. You can try re-soldering the circuit.

Good Luck.

P.S. - Check the Power Suply area closely.
