thank, eventually i went to my neighbor who showed me that i had to pull hard to expose the usb end. amazing that manufacturers tell you not to dry your hair in the bathtub, then assume you know how to use one of these things.

I got an external hard drive for xmas and it's much worse. I assumed i'd simply drag my document folder into it, but instead i had to figure out (on my own) that i was suppose to change it's path. thanks

Sure can, On the side without a lanyard hole, Pull the "Cap" from the rest of the drive, This exposes the USB end, to be inserted into the computer usb..

This is a Driver issue. Search for updated drives.

If that doesn't work you probably need to contact a disk recovery specialist such as DATA365. http://www.datastor.net.au

My computer doesn't recognize my dane-elec 8gb usb stick , although other usb devices do work.

1. Try a different USB port. If other ports recognize it, then the original port is fried. 2. Try a different computer. If the other computer does not recognize it, then your flash drive is damaged.

Good Luck!

I have a Dane-Elec 4 GB Flash drive. I used it successfully one time, but the next time I put it in my computer (or any computer after that) the computer recognized the new device but told me "Please...

1) Instead of double-clicking, right-click and choose "explore." I hope it's that simple. Once you're in, look for a file called autorun.inf. Delete it.

2) If it won't let you explore, see if there is a "format" option instead. This will possibly solve your issue of access, and will solve your issue with your confidential data (of course, your data will be gone, but I'm guessing you're OK with that).

3) Try using another USB slot, sometimes there could be an issue with specific slots, especially if you are using hte front USB ports on a desktop
4) I know this may seem silly but turn off the computer, and then unplug the computer from the wall. Leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, plug it in and then boot up the systems. Plug in the USB drive.

5) Finally if the unit still is not being seen, it may need a low level format, contact the manufacturer and see about getting a replacement. I found their e-mail at onlinesupport@dane-memory.com
