Unfortunately you have already checked the obvious problem. Dryers are fitted with a safety switch to cut out if the heating elements get over hot. The usual reason for over heating as your aware is that the air flow over the heating element becomes restricted, usually due to something (Lint) blocking the venting pipe.

If you really have cleaned the pipe out - i.e. pulled the machine out far enough to straighten the vent pipe and see that its clear and vacuumed as var as you can see, also cleaned the intake filter where the air is drawn in and there are no obvious obstructions there, then there are two possibilities I can think of.

The first is not good news, i.e. a stray sock or other garment has managed to escape the drum of the dryer and has become lodged in the machine possibly close to the exhaust vent exit causing an obstruction prior to the pipe that you can see at the back of the machine. Thats not good news obviously because the machine has to come apart to look inside the drum and check or clean anything out.

The 2nd I am affraid is also not good news and that would be that the sensor to detect the temperature in the dryer is faulty and is tripping the system at too low a temperature, but from your comment about it getting very hot I would assume that this is not really the case.

Regards

The heating element may be going out on it...if its getting too hot you may risk having a fire.i would have a tech look at it and not take any chances

First, does the dryer heat up? does the top of the dryer gets hot?
and most important, did you check the vent hose all the way to the outside to make sure you have a good (strong) air flow; check the vent line and hood to ensure it is clear from lint buildup

Dryer starts but shuts off after a few minutes

DRYER OVERHEATING:

Heating Element
A defective heating element can make a dryer too hot. If the element partially shorts out, it can produce heat all the time, regardless of whether the dryer is calling for heat. Remove the heating element to inspect it. The coils should not be touching each other or anything else.

Other Causes and Conditions
Air Flow Problem
Dryers need good ventilation to work properly. If the vent is clogged it can make the dryer too hot. Clean all of the vent tubing thoroughly.

Cycling Thermostat
Although not common, a defective cycling thermostat can make the dryer too hot. The cycling thermostat is supposed to turn on and off the heat to maintain the proper temperature. If the thermostat is defective it may keep the heat on too long. The thermostat is not adjustable or repairable, it must be replaced.

Felt Seal
Most dryers have a felt seal at the front and rear of the drum to keep the heat inside the drum. If the felt seal is worn away or missing, the dryer may keep heating and make the dryer too hot. This is not common.

Blower Wheel
A defective blower wheel will not spin properly and will not vent the hot air, making the dryer too hot. Check to see if there is adequate airflow out of the dryer.

The dryer is very hot to the touch after only a few minutes in the normal cycle.

inside dryer should be two screws in lint screen holder take out screws the hole piece comes out then you can get farther into the dryer to check for lint is the outside vent clear you could pull dryer vent off run without vent on back to tell if its a venting prom or in the dryer good luck

Kenmore dryer shuts off after five minutes

The vent box inside the dryer still has lint in it. You need to reach way inside to get at it. Turn power off.

Dryer gets hot for the first few minutes only

first check your venting. if you have backed up lint then it will not heat as well. if it's not your venting i would check to see if your heating element is broken and shorted to the casing..some times it will still heat if the coils weld themselves to the casing...if the heating element looks good then i would turn to your electrical.

Kenmore Dryer not heating

thermal fuse kit.it is blowing due to improper ventilation.their is a clog somewhere from dryer to where dryer vents outside.thermal fuse is located at top of your elemnt cage.you will replace the thermal fuse and your high limit fuse at the bottom of the elemnt cage.but have your venting checked or swept out.

Heat shuts off after a few minutes

Check Replace Thermostat. The Dryer Thinks Its Not Lighting Because The Thermostat Isn't Working.

The Dryer Has A Safety Mechanism So It Wont Flood Your Home With Gas. When The Thermostat Is Broken The Unit Doesn't Detect The Heat And Shuts Off The Gas.

If your dyrer has a thermal fuse, it will be on the blower housing (front), not on the heat element. It will be either white plastic os a button about half the size of other thermos. The fuse on the heat element will shut down the haet only. Hope this helps!

Dryer thermofuse blown again

Probably restricted air flow caused by lint build up. Clean out dryer and all vent pipes, check damper outside and see if it opens. After you clean out everything run dryer on aif fluff/no heat cycle and see if there is good air flow outside. If it is electric it could be that the heating element is burned out and shorting out against the frame. This can cause overheating.
