LG LRSC26940ST Defrost Heater Problem

Error Er dh. Need to fix myself. Need help with finding the right part and replacing faulty part.

I talked to LG. They had me unplug it for 3-4 hours. Did that! Displayed Error Code again. Emptied the refrigerator and let it defrost completely. A day later, plugged it back in and it ran until the back of the freezer defrosted over. It's empty again and I have everything removed from the back of the freezer compartment. The evaporator coils are showing. I have pictures that I could email. I have the owner's manual and the service manual. I believe that I know what part I need. The exploded view shows the part floating in the picture. I have the part number but the last page of the service manual (page 143) is not there. That would be that parts list page. I need some help! I will not except that I can't fix it until I know why that is. Certain things I could see a problem with me fixing. So far with what I know between taking it apart and such, I can fix it. The fact that companies don't want you to fix things yourself is causing me to come to you for help. I will not rest until I can get someone to help me. Not just someone that wants to take the easy way out. I was not satisfied with my first response back... Sorry, but thanks but no thanks... Not good enough for me! I don't give up that easily! If there is someone who will help me through this, could you please give me the benefit of the doubt. I have fixed many things! I just need some more input. I would be very grateful! Let me know!

I am getting error code dH.. What is this?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting fixya.com.

DH means defrost heater and refrigerator computer is not sensing the defrost cycle. It is due to a bad defrost sensor located on the evaporator behind the plastic cover in the back of the freezer compartment. You need to replace that.

Problems for Refrig. Kenmore Elite

The Er DH error code indicates the temperature sensor on the evaporator coil did not reach 50 degrees within one hour.
This would indicate the control board did put the refrigerator through a defrost cycle.

This problem could be caused by a defective relay on the control board, a defective defrost heater, a broken wire to the heater, or a stopped up drain on the defrost pan causing ice to form on the evaporator coil.

Before replacing the control board, someone should remove the food from the freezer, remove the freezer drawer, and remove the evaporator cover to expose the evaporator coil, heater, and defrost sensor.
The voltage to the defrost heater should be 120 volts ac.
The defrost heater is part of the evaporator coil and is not replaceable as a separate part.

You can test the operation of the defrost system by pressing "Ultra Ice" and "colder freezer temp" for 3 seconds.
The first time you press and hold the buttons the board will test the compressor, fan, and open the damper.

All displays should be on.

The second time you press and hold the buttons the board will test the compressor, fan, and close the damper.

The third time you press and hold the buttons, the board will turn the compressor and fan off and turn the defrost heater on for around 25 minutes. This would let you know if the defrost system is working.

LG code ER DH, Defrost Heater or Thermistor?

Check for current flow through the defrost heater. If no current then replace the heater. If heater is OK check thermistor for correct operation. From service manual chart (their words not mine): ER DH is Poor defrosting. Indicates: Even though it is passed 1 hour since then
Defrosting , if Defrosting
sensor is not over 8°
Remarks: Temperature fuse Disconnection,Heater
disconnection, DRAIN Jam,
Poor Relay for Heater

Door display shows ER WITH A UPSIDE DOWN HP. I turn the power off and back on and the display goes back to normal but after several hours it goes back to where the only thing on the display is the ER PH...

That stands for "error defrost heater"
Even though the refrigerator has gone through a defrost cycle, if a temp sensor does not reach a set temp within an hour, that error will display. You may have a bad defrost heater, defrost relay, thermal fuse, blocked defrost drain,..... something wrong with the defrost system anyway.

I have error code ER dH. Unplug and then replug

Error Code - erdh

Kenmore and LG 795 Series. Model 795.77556600 but most models use the same repair. Controller Part # 6615JB2005H

To Verify correct part. Check part number for your model number at
www.searspartsdirect.com

Don't be intimidated by this repair... The 'erdh' error code indicates - error defrost heater. Replacing the controller is EASY. The difficult part is removing everything in the freezer section to access the evaporator coil but hang in there and stay with it. You will not hurt anything if you use common sense.

The new part (defrost controller) is relatively inexpensive ranging $10 - $14. Here in the SouthWest I used Appliance Parts Depot for a $10 part cost. Don't forget to have 3-4 small wire ties to secure the defrost heater, defrost sensor and wires.

It would help to write down a few notes of some of the particulars during disassembly.

I had the same ERDH error code, and my refrigerator began to warm up. I replaced the defrost thermostat assembly part # 6615JB2005H which is located inside the freezer, on the right side behind the white plastic panel.

(See Diagram Image) I accessed it by removing the freezer door, all components inside the freezer, including the slide rails / tracks mounted on the sides of the freezer. Be careful when removing the rear white panel because an evaporator fan is mounted on the back of it and plugs into the back left side of the freezer compartment. You just saved yourself about $375 or more.

Stay With It & Good Luck!

Where is this fuse located on the LG refrigerator is displaying a ER DH code error

Hi. You have an Error Defrost Heater. Its taking too long for the heater sensor to open the circuit during defrost. You normally replace the heater, heater sensor and circuit board(motherboard) located on the back of the refrigerator in this situation. Check your mollex plugs and make sure they are connected tightly at the evaporator coil area. Sometimes they come loose. I reccommend replacing the heater and heater sensor located top right on the evaporator coil. This should take care of the problem. Need parts see me on ebay as user, themackshack. Good luck, Mack
