Hello,
by service, I mean profesional Canon service technician, who will came to your office and upload the system software, which is collapsed on your machine. For these, technician has Service support tool and system software.
Sorry, you cant do it by yourself!

ImageClass MF6590 gives "Download Standby"

the firmware is down . u have to call a rep to solve this as u have u get install a service software or change the boot rom

Canon MF6590 stuck in processing/data mode. Answers fax, but does not print. Go to copy, sticks in scanning mode. Powered off. No change.

Check whether any piece of paper is stuck. This may due to paper feeder/out roller may having the issue. Replace/repair will resolve your problem.
