Hi everyone. I would be grateful for any help. I have a Miele Novotronic T220 tumble dryer. I cannot switch the thing on! The finish lamp is lit continually, and I cannot start another drying cycle.
I have unplugged the machine and pressed the start button again, but nothing happens.
Has anyone got any ideas for a technophobe.

Hello,

Even with the door open the dryer turns on

If you can turn the Dryer on even with the door open you have a bad door switch. The door switch is located on the dryer body so that when you close the dryer door it activates the switch.Be sure to turn off the power to the dryer and pull the electric plug before trying replace the switch.

Hi, I turned off my house's main switch while the dryer cycle was going on. Now the dryer doesn't turned on after the power is back. Do I need some type of reset to get it turned on?

Check the circuit breaker for the dryer itself, one side of it may have tripped. Turn the dryer's breaker off, wait a moment, then turn it back on.

If the dryer was in the middle of a heating cycle, rather than a cool down cycle, then the heat coming off the element may have caused the thermal switch in the dryer to open since the fan / blower wasn't running. Usually, this switch will reset itself, but not all will.

Removing the back panel of the dryer, with the power cord UNPLUGGED and breaker TURNED OFF (Just in case), you should see 1 or 2 limit switches. They will likely appear to have brown or dark housings, and will be round or slighly diamond shaped. Use a multimeter to check for continuity across the switch. If the dryer is cold, you should have continuity. If you don't have continuity, then replace the thermal switch.

How to replace door switch on old kenmore stac.dryer 110.88752792

Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.Check online for the part repairclinic.com has it for $14.00 not bad

Dryer drum will not turn

The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch will not activate and the dryer will not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

Dryer want turn on

Hi Airis0299,

Check the following:
  1. The door switch needs to be checked. Is the tab on the door inserting into the hole where the door switch is and making the switch activate?
  2. Is the Dryer plugged in good?
  3. Is the Circuit Breaker feeding the dryer tripped? This is on the electrical supply cabinet for your home. You will see a ganged(meaning two switches paired together) Circuit breaker. Turn the switch off all the way and back on to reset.
I hope this helps you get your dryer back running.
