Unable to get the blade back on

The clipper came with a blade, was able to take it off, and put a new blade. That was two weeks ago. No matter how I try it, I cannot get either blade on. Directions say to have the clipper on, but that has to be wrong. I did not have it on the first time I was able to put the blades on. Help

I had the same problem and i fixed mine ( it is not broken) ... the tongue is the thing that is silver and has grooves that face upward, the tongue should be up compared to pressed against the shave, take a small screw driver or a kitchen knife and get under the tongue and lift it up, once this is done you need to slide it on the blades and snap it down, i found that i did not need to have the clippers on to put it back on.... at first i got confused in thinking that the tongue was the red thing at the top, and in actuality this is the thing that moves the blades to clip.... i hope this helps, once you get the tongue up the blades are on in 10 seconds...

Sound as though the blade drive needs replacing, commonly you will notice tram lines in the cut on your longer blades or the shorter blades struggling to cut

John! No Problem!
First put the bigger of the two blades witht the size/number facing down, put the cutter on top. (with the side with the flat side of the teeth facing down) Then put the tongue guide inside the tension spring, make sure the tension spring rail is on the tension rail and place them on top of the cutter. To see which bits these are go to: http://www.sheareaseltd.com/clipper-blade-sharpening/clipper-blades-the-parts
This picture whows the front and back, it differs slightly from your blade, but its same meat different gravy!

Hold all this together with your finger and thumb, flip it over and scre the whole lot together!

70ca16d.jpg Hope this helps, this is a tongue guide, you hopefully recognise it on your blade. If they are not paralell, then adjust them with pliers, both need to be perfectly vertical. When you put it on the clippers push the latch in as you close the hinge.
If it still wobbles then the next fe wthings need checking
1. The hinge screws on the clipper are tight, located either side of the hinge on the clipper.
2. The drive lever may be worn, thats the maroon peice of plastic sticking up at the top of the clippers, it moves from side to side when clippers are running.
3. If all seems fine up to now, your clipper should be fixed under warranty as it will involve changing parts covered by the warranty.

How old is your clipper, Oster clippers need to be adjusted for more power and speed, also what clipper blade are you using to cut the horse hair and how long is the horse hair, Also the blade may not be sharp, some new blade are sharp maybe defective.

Blade replacement

the lever on the clippers locates into the cutter of the clipper blade its only a matter of lining the lever up with the slot in the top blade which you can slide from side to side by hand. Please keep in mind wear on this plastic Drive Lever may lead to cutting problems.

Have you been oiling the blades? If you ran out of oil you can use any light machine oil available at any hardware store. If you feel comfortable opening the unit you will be able to see the electromagnet inside and watch what is going on. If all else fails Buy a new set (the exact kind) and keep the receipt. Swap them out and return it from the store where you purchased it. You paid good money for them and they should not have died so quickly. The store will get full credit for it when they return it to the manufacturer so it is not that morally bad. The manufacturer should bare the burden because of the poor quality control that allowed your clipper to die in such a short period of time. Hope you find this solution helpful and the last option is a surefire fix...

Putting blade back on my Andis dog clipper

It sounds like you may have a bent hinge which is what the blade slides onto. Please call Andis customer service at 1-800-558-9441 to speak with a customer service rep. They can give you instructions on where to purchase a new hinge or send or clippers in for repair.

Thank you,
