After about 6 months of my computer working perfectly, it decided to freeze on EVERY cold boot. It always hangs before my computer is fully started up. I'm using win7 (64-bit) and a P55-GD65...

Possible that PC is hanging up on cold start it is possible that few capacitors are weak in the motherboard. To confirm on this use a hair dryer to blow hot air into the motherboard . If the PC boots and starts up well you must centralise the job to come to suspected part.Checnge the capcitors and clear any leak or smear of dirt on the board.

Also it is possible that the back up( CMOS) has low voltage or the memory card is a suspect or the connectors. remove clean and reset . Alos in this case you need to check the voltage and also try and swap a memory card.

I accidentally reformat my removable hard disk, i need help on how to recover all lost data.

All your files are still stored on the removable hard drive. They're just invisible or inaccessible. You can recover them with data recovery software.

I used this one to recover files from my formatted external hard drive and it worked. Anyway, you can download it and scan your removeable hard drive for free to preview whether you can recover your data.
Hope this help!

Hi anna21,

Formatting the card may fix the problem however you will loose all the data on the card. I have a solution here that can help you but you need a SD Card Reader on your computer to back up the files.

1. Put the SD Card in your Card Reader.
2. Connect it to your PC.
3. If the window pop-up like asking to open with what program select Open as File.
4. If the window does not pop-up, Go to My Computer/Computer. There should be the SD Card Memory.
5. Backup all the save file in your SD Card in other word copy the whole SD card. Save it in your computer. Make sure you remember where you put it.
6. Reformat the SD Card by Right Click and click Fromat
7. Tick Quick Format
8. After it finish formatting, Try open the SD Card. It should be empty.
9. Put back all the copied file back into SD Memory Card.
10. Plug it on your DS. Check the files. Play and Enjoy

Rate me if this helps so I can help others. Thanks for using Fixya.

Sd card format software

Start up a computer with Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7. Insert the SD card into an external memory card reader or into the computer's built in card reader. If it the first time a SD card has been inserted into the computer, Windows will recognize the SD card and automatically install drivers to read the memory card.

Go to the computer view by clicking on the windows start menu icon in the bottom right corner of the computer. In Windows 7 and Vista click "Computer". In Windows XP click "My Computer"

Right click on the SD drive under the computer heading. A dialog box with different options for the drive will appear. Click on "Format" to bring up the formatting dialog box.

Select the type of formatting (also known as file system format). In Windows XP or Vista there are several choices including FAT, FAT 32, and NTFS. In Windows 7 there is an added choice called exFAT formatting. This is an improved FAT formatting type with improved meta data capabilities. Choose the formatting type, name if the drive if desired, check or uncheck the "quick format" option, and press the "Start" button. When the SD card format is complete Windows will provide a notification.

If this answer helpful please vote me.

Good luck.

Can't read memory card

Try using another memory card to see if the machine is working properly. If it will read the second card your first card is probably bad. Also, go to My Computer and see if the computer is seeing the card at all. If so, you might try reformatting it as a last resort. Just keep in mind that formatting it will erase anything that is currently on the card.

Cant format my micro sd memory card

if you are talking about the kind used into mobile phones...its easy ...just put it into the adapter that transform it into a normal size SD card ..and place it into the card reader from any computer and format by right click on it into my computer ....and choose format FAT stile ...this will erase all you have saved into it ...
if you are talking about a normal size SD card ...see that they have a locking mechanism on the side ...and if that is on locked mode ...this might cause the impossibility of changing any data on it ...even formatting ....

A display problem in my Acer desktop pc

techguru 2009: First thing disconnect all power. Remove all drives (hard drive, CD/DVD, Floppy). Then remove all PCI cards. Also slowly remove the Memory cards. You should only have the motherboard w/processor and the power supply connected, do not connect the monitor or mouse\keyboard. If you have a CMOS battery also remove it. Careful turn the power on, you should hear several beeps. That is letting you know that there is no memory installed. Turn power off disconnect power cord. Slowly install the memory cards, keyboard, mouse, monitor. If you have a pci video card install it now. Turn power on. you should see the bios loading then error message there is no disk or operating syste. turn power off and start connecting one device at a time so your bios can recognize it. This should let you know if you have faulty hardwareby isolating each install. If you still have problems let me know.

I bought a Sandisk Extreme lll SDHC card , that came with a reader ( ImageMate 8 in 1 SDDR-88) I cannot get this reader to work properly..I am using Windows XP. I apparently, do not need to update or...

It rather sounds like you're inserting the card after inserting the reader into the PC... am I wrong?

As long as the device is detected in the Device Manager (system properties), it should be fine.

Insert the card first, then insert the USB reader. From there, check that you get a drive-letter. If you do, great.. if it's brand new, it may require formatting the disk before you can open it and start putting things on it or using it in a camera.

When you say "no files are detected", i'm assuming you don't simply mean "there are no files already on the SD card"... because that's normal if it's new. =-]

8gb memory stick only able to take 2mb of data

What?  Perhaps you mean your SDHC SD memory card can only store 2GB of data because your card reader and its drivers are pre-SDHC?  Usually formatting isn't an issue.  You get a "disk full" error after 2MB, copying from some file manager?  What, really?
